Rin hurried and prepared himself for the day, dressing in his casual clothing that consisted of a gray t-shirt and black pants. The boy made his way over to his bed and lifted up his pillow. After staring at the book for a few moments, he put his pillow back over it and walked away. He was feeling particularly happy today. He didn't need that book right now. He could find his entertainment elsewhere. He could go to (Y/N).
Rin left the house silently and went to the fence. (Y/N) was already there waiting. Her bored expression soon turned to one of excitement as Rin came into view. "Ready to go?" They boy questioned, squeezing through the fence.
"Yep!" (Y/N) happily sang, following him. "Wait, where are we going?" She caught up to the boy as he had already started walking without her. She grabbed onto his hand and smiled. He glanced down and gave a small smile back.
"It's a surprise," He replied. "But I know you'll like it." He nodded his head as if agreeing with himself. The pair walked in silence for a bit longer before Rin removed his hand from (Y/N)'s and placed them over her eyes. "Alright, it's just up ahead. Keep walking straight." The girl replied with a simple shake of her head and did as she was instructed.
"Aaaaaaaaand we're here!" Rin took his hands off the girl's face and watched as her eyes lit up.
"Woah, it's so pretty!" (Y/N) stared in awe at the sight before her. A field consisting of thousands of wildflowers swayed gently in the breeze. "How did you find this place, Rin?" She asked, snapping out of her mini trance. Rin shrugged his shoulders and avoided her question.
"Let's go," He said, changing the subject. After walking through the massive field with (Y/N) for a while, Rin got an idea. "Hey, (Y/N). Come here." He commanded. The young girl skipped up happily with a couple flowers in her hands.
"Yes?" She asked, rocking back and forth on her feet. The boy slowly walked up and tapped her on the nose.
"You're it!" He called out, turning away and running as fast as he could. (Y/N) stood stunned for a moment before chasing after him. "Rinnn, no fair! You got a head start!" She cried out, struggling to run as fast as him.
"You snooze, you loose!" He laughed. Rin turned around, looking over his shoulder at (Y/N) who was pretty far behind him. He slightly slowed his pace. Not enough to be noticeable, but enough for her to catch up. Soon enough, he felt a small hand lightly touch his arm.
"I.. I got you!" (Y/N) huffed out, trying to catch her breath. She plopped down onto the ground in exhaustion, face red from giggling and running.
"Yeah, you got me. You're pretty fast, ya know," He commented, sitting down next to her. "Good job." (Y/N) gave a big grin in response. The sight made Rin's heart beat a little faster. 'Why is this happening again?' He questioned himself. He tried thinking about the reason for his odd issue, but found himself distracted by his sister. She had her back turned to him, fiddling with something. "What are you doing?" He questioned.
"Nothing!" She quickly shouted. "It's a surprise." She stood up and moved a couple of feet away. Rin was a bit confused, but let her go nonetheless. He used the time he had to lay in the flowers and look at the clouds. His mind started to wander and he began thinking about Sachi. How much of a relief it was to have her gone forever. He smiled to himself and closed his eyes. He put his hands behind his head and relaxed, listening to (Y/N)'s soft humming.
After a while of comfortable silence, a shadow loomed over the boy. He opened one eye to see his sister standing over him. "Yes?" He asked, beginning to sit up.
"I made something for you.." (Y/N) shyly spoke, not knowing how Rin would react. She timidly held out a crown of flowers. Many different kinds and shades of red flowers were messily intertwined with each other. On her head was a matching crown, only this one consisted of pink flowers. Rin slowly and gently took the crown out of her hands.
"Thanks, but... uhh I, um, I don-" He looked up to see her shy expression. How was he going to be able to tell her he doesn't want to wear the stupid crown? Simple. He wasn't. "Thank you, I love it." He smiled, placing it on his head.
(Y/N) excitedly jumped onto his lap, as he was now sitting. He fixed her crown that was now askew on her head. "We're the king and queen now!" Rin nodded in agreement.
"Yep. We're the rulers of the flower kingdom," He smiled. "But we've been here for quite a while. You ready to head back home now, my queen?" Rin asked, playing the part of a king speaking to his queen.
"I guess..." She said a bit sadly. "But we can come back here someday soon, right?" Rin nodded, reassuring her that they would be able to return. That seemed to pick the girl's spirits up as she move to get off of him. She stood up and picked a handful of random flowers. "For Mama!" She smiled, beginning to walk back in the direction of the orphanage with Rin at her side. He reached down and timidly took hold of her hand. With their fingers laced together, they happily made their way back to their home.
As they reached the orphanage, the two went their separate ways, (Y/N) going to present the flowers to her mama and Rin heading to his room. When he arrived, he took the flower crown off his head and placed it gently on his dresser. He stared at it for a while and carefully ran his fingers over a petal. Why was he being like this today? It was completely out of character for him. He didn't realize it, but the death of Sachi really put him in a good mood. It was like there was peace on earth to him, he just didn't see it. Hopefully things will continue on like this.
