It's been a week since that "announcement". I feel loads better after talking about it. I've got nothing but support this past week. No weird looks at school, just hugs. I've had an MRI appointment and the tumor is shrinking. They said I may can stop chemo soon. My scars are healing, too. It's all good. Today, I'm returning to softball. I have my first game after school since everything. I'm very excited. I'm really nervous, but if I screw up, the coach can't blame me. I've been out since the season started. It's Thursday and it's 6 AM. I jump out of bed. I take a shower. I put on a King Travis Clothing shirt, jeans, and my maroon converse high tops. I comb my hair and put it in a ponytail. I walk into the kitchen. "Hi my little softball player," Dad says, "Its great to see you on the field today." He hugs me and gives me breakfast. Toast and eggs. He knew exactly what I wanted. I finish up and start packing my softball bag. I pack my water, uniform, bat, gloves, glove, and helmet. The words printed on my helmet shine on my eyes. "TRIPPY #5" I smile as I zip my bag. I grab my backpack and roll my softball bag. "Wait a second," mom says, "I got something for you." She hands me a box. I open it. Inside is a small ring. It looks like it's a size seven. It's silver, too. "Forever Strong" is engraved on the back with a cancer ribbon. On the front it has my initials. "aTm". I hug her and thank her. I put the ring on my right hand's middle finger. She kisses me on the head and I head to the bus that's waiting on me. I get in and set next to one of my team mates, Callie. She hugs me and I hug her back. I tell her how I've missed softball so much. We soon arrive to school and it seems that every class takes forever. -- It's finally 3:30. Class is dismissed. I grab everything I need from my locker as people walking by tell me good luck. I go to the bathroom and dress into my uniform. I fix my pony tail and eat a banana. I think I'm the last person to show up. Oops. I start walking to field. Everyone I know is here. I walk into the dugout. I'm surprised. I look at everyone's t-shirts. The shirts are purple with the ctfxc cancer awareness logo on the front. The backs say their last names and numbers. I look below the number and it says "Welcome back Alanis Trippy!" with my silhouette. I see a huge camera catching my reaction as someone hands me my shirt. It says everything on mine accept the welcome back thing. I take it and put it on. Happy tears stream down my face. I look out to the bleachers and everyone's here. The band, my grandparents, people from school, and Shay. I hug mom and dad as they walk into the dugout. They tell me to vlog throughout the game as they film me with the big camera. I look out and there's a banner on the fence. It has my picture on it. It reads "Alanis Trippy is one of our greatest players. She was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year and couldn't play. She has returned and we are forever great full that she is here." The coach comes up. "Let's play ball!"
