I jog out to left field. Man it's good to be back. I warm up with the centerfielder, Merri. "I'm so glad you're feeling better and can finally play!" She tells me excitingly as I catch the ball. "Yeah it's great to be back! I think I have to take chemo one more time and I don't have to take it again!" I reply as I throw the ball. She tells me how good of a throw it was. "Who put all of this together?" I ask. "Your parents, the school, and the team." I tell her thank you. "Balls in!" The umpire yells. I through the ball to our dugout. The first pitch is a perfect strike pitched by Caroline. She pitches another strike and the batter hits a fly ball. It comes straight to left field. I back up a bit and catch it. I see dad filming as I throw it in. Everyone cheers. The next ball goes to Merri and she catches it. "Good job, Merri!" I say as she throws it in. Caroline throws three beautiful strikes and it's our turn to bat. There is two batters in front of me. I put on my batting gloves, helmet, and hold my bat. "The lead off batter, #7, Picher, Caroline Klaire!" the announcer exclaims. She bunts it and sprints to first. I am now on deck. "This is the 1st baseman, #15, Kate Blue!" She hits it to left field. She makes it to second base and Caroline makes it home. I go up to the plate. "This is her first time at bat in 6 months! She's not letting brain cancer beat her. This is the incredibly strong #5, left fielder, Alanis Marie Trippy!!!!!" The crowd goes wild. I position myself. Tons of cameras, I know are on me. I take a deep breath. The first pich I strike out. The second one is pitched. It looks good. I swing my bat. The ball goes into the air. I sprint to first. The ball is caught. The centerfielder drops it! I spring through second as Caroline and Kate hit home. I am almost there as the ball is near me. I quickly slide. "SAFE!" The umpire yells. Everyone cheers. Mom is crying. Happy tears I hope. ----- Soon enough, the game is over. We beat the Bulldogs 20 to 6. As I get out of the dugout the fans from our side of the bleachers run out onto the field. "We dedicate this ball game to Miss Alanis MarieTrippy! Let's all beat this brain tumor together!" The announcer exclaims. Everyone hugs me and gets photos with me. My Instagram instantly blows up with people tagging me in their photos with heart emojis as their captions. A couple people from the other team come up. "Hi. We're huge fans of the videos! Can we get a photo and you to sign this?" They say as they hand me a couple softballs. "Sure!" I sign the balls with a sharpie and stand with them. They take a picture. I say goodbye and give them all hugs. Everyone finishes welcoming me. Now I'm with the band and everyone. My mom hugs me. She crys on my shoulder. "You did great sweetie!" "I love you too mom!" The band hugs me too. Then we all head to dinner. We head home and go to sleep.
