ISABELLERESTING A HAND on his shoulder, I squeeze it softly, silently reassuring him. He clears his throat, visibly awkward and nervous.
Removing my hand, I lean over and grab some food, shoving it into his lap, ruffling his hair, laughing loudly when he slaps my hand away.
"Get off!"
"No," I stick my tongue out, uncomfortably getting into his personal space, "Izzy! Stop."
"Okay, okay." He sighs in relief, giving me the stink eye when he sees me attempting to hide my laughter. His face makes me laugh, what can I do?
A comfortable silence fills the room, his eyes focused on the TV but I know his head is elsewhere. Not being able to take it anymore, I turn it off, ignoring his protests and turning my body towards his, arms crossed, elbows leaning on my knees.
"Just spill what happened!" I groan, "I can't take it anymore!" He lets out a small smile, nodding to himself and adjusting himself on the sofa.
"We had a- I don't know- weird argument," He begins, hands fiddling with the end of his shorts, "What about?"
"Him and Jamie." He said his name with such distaste, I want to laugh. But I'm not going to. A sad smile fills my face, hand patting his knee.
"What about him?" Marcus hates Jamie.
It's surprising, because Marcus really doesn't pay enough attention to anyone except those he loves , so his hate against Jamie is amusing and over all funny. It's expected though.
Marcus sighs, adverting his eyes and running a hand through his hair, "I saw a message on his phone." My stomach drops, mentally praying he isn't going to say what I think he is, "Jamie asked to meet and he said yes."
Marcus's face is filled with hurt, sadness and pain. I waste no time wrapping my arms around him, leading his head towards my chest, rubbing his back in a soothing manner.
I'm the worst person to comfort someone but Marcus is equally awkward as me so we'll let it slide.
You're just a awkward person altogether, Izzy.
"I'm sorry," He snorts, shrugging, "You don't deserve that." He snaps his head up, a sarcastic smile on his face, "That's not even the worst part, Izzy." He shakes his head, running a hand down his face.
Furrowing my brows, I watch him remove himself from me completely and sit in the corner of the sofa, wrapping his arms around his knees, eyes focused on the wall ahead.
I hate seeing him like this. Marcus is one of those loud, funny type of people who can make you laugh without trying. It's unusual, weird and serious when he isn't like that.
"When I called him out for it, he shouted at me," His voice cracks, breaking my heart, "Saying it was nothing."
Why would Thomas do that? I can confidently say Thomas loves Marcus and he would never cheat. Thomas hates those type of people who cheat so committing the act himself sounds unbelievable.
"How's agreeing to meet up with your ex nothing," He sniffles, wiping his nose with his sleeve, "I wouldn't have minded if he told me but he obviously has something to hide-"
"Marcus maybe-"
He narrows his eyes at me, voice coming out strong. "He would have told me if there was nothing going on, but instead he chose to hide it."
I nibble on my lips, not knowing what to say.
"He's not like that, Marcus. Thomas wouldn't do that."
