ISABELLE

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" I hear Kane ask, voice blank and strong. I blink, walking towards them nervously.

Why do we always end up in some weird predicament whenever we go to the shops. Why can't we enjoy our food in peace?

My mother stands at my front door, arms crossed; Kane stands in front of her with a hard look, eyes narrowed. I glance over my shoulder to see Marcus right behind me, giving me a assuring smile. He looks nervous and weirded out, hand tightly clasped onto the bag.

Me too, buddy, me fucking too.

"Who are you?" She asks, "I'm here to see my husband and daughter!" Husband? My dad and my mother have no contact and I know they're divorced because my dad has been dating throughout the years. So what's she on about?

Kane scoffs, rolling his eyes and moving to the side when my mother tries to walk past him. I'm standing right behind her now, eyes analyzing her.

Her hair is the same as mine but a lot shorter and straight. It looks frizzy and damaged. She's as tall as me, maybe even a inch taller. My, apparent, mother is wearing some black loose pants and what's seems to be a cardigan. I'm not being rude but she looks a mess.

I can't believe after years I'm seeing my mother. I don't know what to feel. Is she even my mother?

"Excuse me?" I interrupt quickly before Kane says something stupid. My mother snaps her head towards me, body following right after.

"Izzy!" She squeals, knocking the air out of me when she wraps her arms around me. I stand frozen, arms hanging by my sides. What the fuck. What do I do?

Kane furrows his brows, moving towards me, a look on his face silently telling me he'll get rid of her for me. I shake my head discreetly, smiling.

"Uh," I move away, "Who are you?"

My mothers brown eyes widen, disbelief and shock filling them. She furrows her brows, looking at Marcus who stands beside me.

"You don't recognize me?" I shake my head in response, walking around her and into Kane's arms.

I instantly calm down, leaning into his comfort. Marcus shoves past us and into the house, whispering, "Good luck." He sends a wide grin over his shoulders, brows waggling annoyingly. The bag filled with snacks and foods swings beside him, happily carried by him.

"Bitch." Kane mutters under his breathe, most likely sending Marcus a dirty look.

This cunt. He just left us. I ignore him and look towards my mother who stands there, shivering from the cold. Do i invite her inside?

"No, I don't."

"Oh." She mutters, looking down. Frowning, i twiddle with my hands nervously, feeling guilty and anxious. I don't know what to do.

Kane kisses my head, "What do you wanna do, baby?" Baby? Uncontrollably, I smile at the floor, neck heating up, but managing to mumble out, "How 'bout you go inside and I'll sort this out."

"No."

"Kane!" I whisper yell, "I'll be fine!"

Honestly, i don't want to be left alone but this must be more awkward for Kane than me so i'm not going to force him to stay with me.

"I'm not leaving you with some random women!" He snaps, tightening his grip. My mother hears and narrows her eyes at him, "I don't know who you are but you have no-"

"Shut up, women!"

Her eyes widen in disbelief, thin lips curling into a snarl. Kane squares up, ready to go off on her next words but i open my mouth.
