MY DAD SITS OPPOSITE me, shrugging out his jacket and leaning back in his seat. I smile at him, grabbing my coffee and drinking it.
More of a Frappuccino but same thing.
If you ever go Starbucks, order a caramel frappe. The most simple and enjoyable coffee you can drink. Dad's birthday is today and said he wanted to start his day here for breakfast.
"How is it, Belle?" He asks, lips attaching to the white cup, eyes full of warmth, "Is it up to your standards?" The old man in front of me is having plain, black coffee.
Something Kane would drink.
I giggle, rolling my eyes at him, "Yes. It never gets old." My dad chuckles at my words, snorts and continues sipping his coffee.
My dad has to go back to work in one day. I hate his job, if I'm being honest, because I hardly see him, unless he FaceTimes me or until he comes home. My dad, Captain Graham Chilton, is a pilot. He flys planes, which means he's always in another country.
Living his life without me. Enjoying the amazing weather and not missing the shitty weather in England at all.
I would complain about it, but I can't. I see how it makes him happy and I can't even say my dad abandons me for his job, because he doesn't. I know he'll drop it as soon as I say something. He's the best like that.
He'll always randomly call me in the middle of the night, not by purpose but because of the times zone, and he'll have a nice chat with me, asking me about my day, telling me about his day and showing me what he's up to.
He's always at the beach or the hotel pool. Lucky guy.
The lucky man always gets to stay in five star hotels and always sends me pictures of the view. He loves making me jealous.
Don't lie, you would too.
"I'm sorry I have to leave." I know he's being sincere. I can see in his eyes, hear it in his voice. "It's all good dad," He playfully glares at my next words.
"Can hardly tell you're gone."
We both know that's a lie. It's always been me and my dad, that's if you exclude Kane and Luke, so it does get lonely when you don't hear the football on or smell his famous spaghettini getting cooked in the kitchen.
"I'll take you with me one day," He smiles, eyes crinkling at the sides, "I promise." And I can count he'll keep it.
"I'll hold you to that," He winks when I smile, "Now enjoy your coffee, birthday man."
Looking at my dad, I tilt my head to the side, analyzing him in a way. I look just like him, except for the hair. He has dark brown hair, naturally straight, opposite to mine. We have the same nose and face shape. Lucky me.
We share the same honey eyes, but his eyes are more downturned while mine are almond shaped. It's weird, but I know I probably got some features from my mum.
I have no idea what she looks like. Is she pretty, is she nice and thoughtful like my dad? God knows. Well actually, my dad knows.
"You're, like, proper old" I beam, leaning over and stealing his gingerbread biscuit. "Oi!" He slaps my hand, "And I'm not old!"
"What?" I feign innocence, a wide smile on my face as I chew the biscuit. "And yes you are."
He sticks his middle finger up at me, eyes widening when a old woman walks past and sees. He waved at her, scratching the back of his neck.
