Remus~

TW: I don't think there are any?? Lots of healthy communication for once, so refreshing :D

Remus hadn't been thinking. Obviously. He just... He just needed Sirius to know that he did care.

Maybe there were better ways to go about that, though. Ways that didn't involve kissing his best friend.

"James. Emergency." Remus had gone straight from the little courtyard to the Gryffindor common room, where he knew James was studying with Peter and Regulus.

James looked up at him, confused for a second. "Oh. Oh. Yeah, just a second." He turned to the other two, who were watching them with puzzled looks on their faces. "I'll, uh- Yeah. I'll be back in a bit."

Two minutes later, they were locked in their dorm room, James sitting on his bed while Remus paced.

Since that night a few weeks ago, Remus had felt more comfortable talking to James. He'd even told him about his ridiculous crush, which had felt like a huge weight off of his back.

"What happened, Moons? Talk not go well?"

Remus huffed a humorless laugh. "You could say that. Shit. I, uhm... I may have kissed him."

Silence.

"You kissed Padfoot?" A nod. "Holy shit."

"I know."

"Why- What did he do?"

"Good question, I don't know. I ran."

"You... ran. Let me get this straight. You fought with your best friend. Kissed him. And then ran away."

"Yep."

"Moony, I say this with all the love in my heart. You're an idiot."

"Fuck, I know." Remus crossed the room to his bed and flopped down. "I've ruined everything."

"Hey, you don't know that."

"Really? Name one way this all gets better."

"Maybe... Fuck, I don't know. Maybe he wants you, too?"

Remus snorted. "You didn't see his face after."

James muttered something that sounded like "Fucking Black brothers." Then he cleared his throat. "How do I help, Moons?"

"I don't know... Help me avoid him?"

"Isn't that how this whole thing started?"
Remus groaned, turning over so he was on his back. "I hate when you're right."

...

Despite James' advice, Remus resolved to avoid Sirius, at least until morning. Give them both a chance to calm down, and give Remus a chance to figure out how to apologize.

In the end, they avoided each other until right after Transfiguration, their last class of the day. Remus had slept through breakfast, and by that point, he'd decided to let Sirius start the conversation.

When Sirius stopped him outside McGonnagal's classroom and told him they needed to talk, Remus was ready. Or rather, as ready as he could ever be.

He followed Sirius silently down the halls, going over what he was going to say in his head.

It had to be alright. Remus wasn't sure what he'd do if he lost one of his best friends.

When they finally stopped, they were back in the abandoned little courtyard. Sirius turned to look at him, and every thought left his head.
