Sirius~

T.W: Possible eating disorder behavior

His brother was alive.

His brother, who betrayed him, was alive.

His brother, who sat by and watched as Sirius was tortured, was alive.

Regulus wanted help. And so, despite everything that had happened between the two, he would get it. Because that's what brothers do. They help each other.

Even when they'd rather rip each other apart.

...

He's my brother, and I love him.

He's my brother, and I love him.

He's my brother, and I love him.

That's what Sirius repeated in his mind, over and over, for the rest of the night.

And it wasn't a lie. Sirius did love him. Some days, it felt like he loved his little brother far more than he deserved. Regulus, the perfect Black heir. Sirius hated him and loved him in equal measure.

Sirius wasn't a liar, and not just because of his morals. The Marauders loved to tell him how every emotion he had played on his face. Remus told him it was because he was passionate, that it was something to admire.

Remus had always been good at turning a bad thing into something beautiful.

...

Four sets of eyes were pinned on the Slytherin table during the sorting ceremony. The one meal that Reg wouldn't be able to get away from, the meal that would prove, at least to Sirius, if Reggie actually wanted help.

Regulus had a book open on the table. He wasn't eating anything, and despite all his anger toward his brother, he was worried.

He'd never seen Regulus as skinny as he was that day. His little brother had always been on the smaller side, but it had never been like this.

His brother looked like a walking corpse.

Distracting himself from the twist of anger and fear that materialized in his stomach, he looked at his friends.

"Alright, start of term. What's our first prank?" he said. He loved the way the Marauders' faces lit up when they planned a new prank.

"We could set off fireworks in the corridors," suggested Peter.

"Too basic," said James. "Oh, how about we-"

"James, we all know what you're going to say. No, we're not transfiguring the statues to look like Lily Evans," Remus interrupted.

"Actually, oh ye of little faith, I had a different idea." Sirius nodded for James to explain. "So, we sneak into the Slytherin common room, yeah? And then we release a bunch of toads."

The boys waited for him to continue. When it was clear he was done talking, Remus sighed.

"And you said Pete's idea was basic- Oh! I had an idea." Remus looked excited, which was saying a lot for him, given the time of the month. Sirius loved how his eyes lit up when he spoke, and how all his plans were utter genius.

It took a moment for Sirius to remember he was supposed to be listening to Remus instead of... well, whatever it was he was doing.

"-so all their stuff is mixed up," Remus finished as Sirius tuned back in.

"Sorry, Moons. Say that again?" Remus gave him his signature Worried Look before speaking again.

"I was saying, instead of just releasing a bunch of toads in the common room, what if we turn all of their stuff into toads instead? I know of a spell that's similar, I can look into changing it. Then, we give them some sort of puzzle to solve for the counterspell. By then, the toads will have hopped all over the place, so their stuff will be all mixed up."

"And covered in frog goo!" Peter added.

"Toads don't have goo. But their dorms would smell like a swamp for a while."

"Honestly, Moons. Where would we be without you?" Sirius asked, fluttering his lashes like a fifth-year girl.

"Probably in detention."

Well, he wasn't wrong.
