Final Update (And a Plot Summary)

Hey everyone!

It's been a while, huh?

I'm not going to lie, I gave up on this project. It was my very first piece of fanfiction and, while it was an amazing experience to write, I know it isn't very good. 

To those of you who joined me on this journey, my heart is yours. It's a bit of a mess, but it is still a work that I've devoted a lot of my time and energy (and tears) to. So, thank you for seeing the good bits in a not-so-good story, and thank you for the support.

I left the story on a bit of a cliffhanger, and I did have the rest of the plot planned out before I gave up on the story, so I'm going to summarize the rest of it for you (I know I hate not knowing what happens at the end of a story, so you're welcome I guess). 

Before I do, I want you all to know that I'm rewriting AGH. Like I said, I love the story. I love the plot that I thought of, even if I never ended up following through with it. When I finish it, I'll be uploading it on AO3 under the pseudo killingmesoftly_24 with the same name, so you're more than welcome to come check it out when I upload it.

Alright, here's the rest of the story:

Remus and Sirius tell the group about their relationship about a week after the last chapter. Everything goes fine, obviously, and Wolfstar gets more comfortable in their relationship.

A week or so after that, the first Gryffindor party of the year comes up. It's a very fun time, and Regulus gets drunk and has a bonding moment with Peter (telling him about James, etc, etc). Keep in mind that Regulus and James literally haven't spoken to each other since the night in the dorms. 

Skip ahead to early morning of October 30th, when Regulus is reading in the kitchens. James shows up, and they finally talk it out. THE PINING IS OVER, GUYS. Jegulus is back, babey ! They decide to keep it a secret for a while, until Regulus figures out how to tell Sirius.

At some point in late November, Wolfstar gets in an argument over Remus lying about his pain. It's rough, it's messy, feelings are hurt, it's a classic Wolfstar fight. They work it out though, obviously.

Skip ahead yet again, it's the day before the gang leaves Hogwarts for the Christmas holiday. James and Regulus are "studying" in the library (making out) when Sirius finds them. It's Bad. Very very bad. Sirius is freaking out, yelling at James, they get kicked out, it's Not Good.

So, there's lots of tension there, obviously. Anyway, James, Sirius, and Regulus all go back to the Potter house for Christmas, and Remus comes to join them after like two days. Sirius isn't speaking to James at all, is only barely speaking to Regulus, and Jegulus is being super awkward cause of it. They aren't having a good time, honestly.

And it gets worse!

Eventually, all of the tension boils over and the brothers get in a huge argument. It's mostly Regulus telling Sirius that he doesn't have a say in his love life and Sirius trying to protect him (even if he's doing it wrong). it's heated but fairly short, and Regulus leaves to go outside and get some air.

James gives him a few minutes to settle himself before following him outside, but when he goes to find him, Regulus is just gone. There's no sign of him at all.

Regulus, meanwhile, has been abducted by his parents (and by that, I mean some thug his parents called in to bring him back). He got knocked out, so when he wakes up he's not sure where he is. Soon enough, he realizes that he's in the same cage his parents locked him in after he refused the dark mark.

Walburga and Orion show up soon, they have a really awful conversation, and eventually they start to torture Regulus. I'm talking cruciatus curse, Orion's legilimency, all the awful shit that's been talked about throughout the story so far.

His parents leave eventually and by now, Regulus has no idea what's real and what's fake. When he sees his brother enter the room, he assumes it's another one of Orion's visions. He starts begging for it to stop, for Sirius to just go away, just having a full freak out (so valid, honestly). Sirius gets the cage open and pulls Regulus into a hug, and Regulus just full on passes out.

So what happened was basically, James runs inside when he can't find Reg and tells Remus and Sirius what happened. He's a total mess, and when Sirius finds out what happened he starts freaking out too. Sirius figures that he's probably back at Grimmauld Place, so he and James decide to go rescue him. (Nothing like their mutual love for Regulus to bring them back together, right?) They leave Remus there to fill in Effie and Monty and take brooms out there.

Sirius goes in the house alone, since he knows the layout and can sneak around. James stays outside and just absolutely loses it when Sirius carries Regulus out. They're all having a very bad time, ok?

Anyway, eventually they get Reg back to the Potter house, and when he woke up and healed a bit, they all talked it out.

Skip ahead to back at school, the gang is hanging out in the Gryffindor dorms when Regulus says that he forgot something in the library. He heads off alone but instead of going to the library, he goes to talk to Dumbledore.

So basically, Regulus decided that he had to do something about his parents and everyone like them (the Death Eaters) because he finally came to terms with the fact that they don't care about legality and he's terrified that his friends will be the ones hurt next time. He knows that he's in a very unique situation, so he goes to Dumbledore and tells him that he wants to be a spy for the Order.

They work it all out and decide that Regulus will go home at the end of term and take the dark mark. He can't tell any of his friends what he's planning.

The countdown begins.

Life goes on pretty much as normal. It's a very happy few months, for the most part. Regulus is being trained in Occlemency on the side, but everything is fine aside from that.

The end of term inevitably comes, and Regulus rides the train with the Marauders for the last time. They don't realize why he seems so sad the whole trip, but they assume it's just because he'll miss them at school the next year.

That night, Regulus leaves a note on his pillow saying goodbye, telling them that their help wasn't enough, doing a little bit of insulting in an attempt to push them away. After that, he sneaks out and turns up at Grimmauld Place.

He joins the Death Eaters, it's not good, etc, etc.

Consider the rest of the story cannon compliant (I'm so sorry).

There you go! I'm changing a lot of things in the rewrite (including the ending, the new ending is a lot happier).

I didn't expect saying goodbye to be so hard, honestly. It's been an amazing experience writing this story, but I think we all know that AGH is over by now.
