"Concede."
"What?" Leni squealed over Imee's one-word request.
"Hindi naman siguro mahina ang comprehension mo, Robredo. I want you to step down and withdraw from the candidacy," she gave more emphasis in her last sentence.
"And why would I want to do that?" she hissed back.
"For your own good," Imee plainly replied.
Leni darted looks at her, "Over the good of every Filipino residing in this planet? No thanks."
"Wow..." she faked a laugh. "Ang laki talaga ng tiwala mo sa sarili mo, 'no? Just because nalalamangan niyo kami tuwing rally sa participants doesn't give you a guarantee to win, dear sister."
"I am not only focused on winning, Imee. Alongside the exposed, blinded truth and the Filipinos that believe and nurture, this is me fighting and standing for what is right," Leni sternly and proudly jested.
"Oh, how amusing. Superwoman mode activated? Huh...you, talking about truth when you have hidden to the general public the whole reality that you have been living for the last thirty years?" Imee cackled a mischievous laugh.
Shit. Don't tell me she's pulling the supposed-to-be forbidden card.
She was winning and she knew it, thus she made her tone more intriguing, "Ano na lang kaya ang magiging reaksyon ng mga tao kapag nalaman nilang naging Marcos ka sa pagkahaba-haba ng panahon?"
"I did no moral wrong," Leni's hands made a fist underneath the table. "I did that to save my sister and your father's humiliation because of your brother's stubbornness."
"Sure, family shit, whatever...yet you still failed on keeping Bongets by your side. Kaya hindi rin tayo talo, Leni," tuloy pa rin ang panunukso nito sa kanya. "Oh, and not to mention...you wedded my brother few days after your husband's death, at that."
"Don't drag my late husband's name on this, Imee. I swear to God..." Leni hissed upon Imee's verbatim mentioning of Jesse.
"Swear to God, what?" she wickedly smiled at her. "Wala ka ring pinagkaiba sa'min, Leni. Alam mo, the history books should write about that one-billion-dollar proposal too, don't you think?"
The day that she dreaded would arrive has eventually come. In the past, Leni wasn't worried about people finding out about it through the grapevine, particularly with someone like Louise, because Louise was never privy to the whole details of the situation and there was no confirmation at all. Besides, Bongbong's side of the story was the only one that the attorney ever heard. However, Imee is not like the others because she was involved in the signing. She was around during all of the negotiations that took place, she was the one who their father initially told about what took place, and being the oldest, she was the one who knew the agreement bit by bit.
"We all signed a closure agreement, Imee. Alam kong alalang-alala mo pa iyon. You just can't barge in blackmailing me about that. I still have the original paper of it so I can legally sue you if it ever comes out under your watch," Leni warned and fought along with her.
Imee arched a brow, fully prepared for that rebuttal, "Well, you should've read that one thoroughly...or baka nakakalimutan mong that paper will only make sense kung kasal pa rin kayo ni Bongets until now."
