"Andito na po si Ma'am Toni, VP."
Agad na napaangat si Leni ng tingin sa kanyang assistant.She had just ended her previous meeting a few minutes ago and was now prepared for another one because the time was so impeccable. She rapidly tidied up her area and her table by removing the stacks of papers and folders that were on top of them, and she used her hands to make some quick adjustments to her face and hair. She gave a slight nod as she readjusted the hems of her dress and got her thoughts back in the right place in preparation for answering inquiries.
"Okay, I'm good. Papasukin niyo lang," saad nito habang tumatayo mula sa kinauupuan.
The assistants headed straight for the OVP's main entrance and opened it for Gonzaga and her team as soon as they arrived. As they brought them upstairs to her office, they all greeted each other and asked how the others were doing in between steps. When Rona opened the door for them, she was greeted by the VP wearing spectacles who was there and eager to welcome them inside her modest abode.
"Good morning po, VP!" masiglang bati at yakap ni Toni sa bise.
"Hi!" she lightly rubbed her back. "I'm sorry, medyo maliit talaga yung office ko..."
"Okay lang Ma'am," she gave her a smile. "Kami nga ho tong gustong magpasalamat sa pagpapaunlak niyo sa imbitasyon namin kahit po mukhang busyng-busy kayo."
"I won't lie, I was thinking of turning it down last week kasi maraming padating na goods galing Aurora ngayon, nakakahiyang ibroadcast tong mala-bodega naming opisina," Leni side-joked.
"Nako VP, siguradong hahanga ang mga viewers natin dahil sa kasipagan mo ho," Toni commented and shifted the topic in a jiff. "Is it okay po ba na magset-up na kami para makapagstart na ho tayo?"
"Sure, sure..." she replied.
Leni also began shifting things around and assisting them in plugging the electronics in, while several of her aides offered assistance in arranging the lighting and putting the cameras in the appropriate positions. A few of the guys also brought in chairs from the lobby so that the two ladies may sit down and have a comfortable conversation while they are on camera.
Both of them started to sit appropriately and Toni uttered as she passed on the VP's portable microphone, "Ready na ba? Migs?"
A thumbs-up was given by their floor director and the interview officially started.
"Alam niyo po isang malaking karangalan na napagbigyan niya tayo ngayong araw. She sits on the second highest position of our country and it's truly an honor na makausap ko po ang rating bise president, Ma'am Leni Robredo," Toni's fascinated gaze shifted on the VP. "Hi po Ma'am Leni."
"Hi Toni, thank you for having me today," Leni timidly replied.
"Nako kami po ang nagpapasalamat na pinapasok niyo po kami sa inyong napakagandang opisina...na para ng warehouse dahil sa mga donations," the both of them laughed heartily.
The conversation went on and on, with questions being asked about the COVID reaction, the nonstop gift distribution and acceptance that they had been doing, the politics within the region, and eventually, as time went on, it all came down to her personal life outside of the vice-presidential position.
