IT WAS HOPPER'S IDEA AS TO WHERE THEY WOULD HEAD OVER FOR THE SALT.And that was how they all ended up going to Hawkins Middle School for their supplies. Daisy now had a jacket on that Joyce had let her wear after deeming that just a single long-sleeved shirt wouldn't protect her from the cold.
Sure, the jacket was rough on the outside but she felt warmer on the inside than ever. The window in the car was slightly open and their speeding up right over there was just a disaster. The wind was harsh and eventually put up with Daisy in a hurry, but she still had enough time to hug her body. Getting a sudden cold was the least of her worries but it's not like coughing in the creature's face is going to send it back.
They separated off into different groups and Daisy just so managed to go with Nancy and Mike.. or she was more so dragged by the older Wheeler. It was nerve-wracking just thinking about all the possibilities that could go wrong in an instant. What if they didn't find the exact items they were searching for, then what? Daisy wouldn't give up on finding what they needed, keeping a positive attitude despite the circumstances.
But the janitor's closet was the easiest place to break into during the day and they soon figured out it was more difficult late at night. Especially with a padlock sitting on there.
"These fuckers." Daisy muttered, moving away from the door and trying to find something nearby. She had to stifle her laugh when she saw Mike miserably fail at trying to open it with a shove of his shoulder.
"Shut up." He glared at her, watching her give him a sarcastic frown-like smile with a shrug. "It's not funny."
"Yeah, yeah." Daisy shook her head. She looked up at Nancy with a curious look. "What do you have?"
"Stand back," Nancy ordered. She held a rock in her hand and soon enough the lock was busted and laying limply on the handle. Her hands went to work and Nancy quickly threw the lock onto the dirt, kicking it back.
It sure was aggressive with the way Nancy kicked the door open after removing the lock, causing Mike and Daisy to share a look that didn't last long before she went off after Nancy. It did none of them any good just standing around and wasting time.
Nancy held out a tightly put-together hose to Daisy. "Here, grab these."
"Yup." She muttered and grunted with the newfound weight that nearly dragged her down. Her arm grew immensely tired just a second in.
Daisy let out a grateful sigh when Nancy pointed to the wheelbarrow right in front of her. They placed every hose they could find in the little shack and went on about their journey. Every few minutes she and Nancy would switch turns on who was pushing the wheelbarrow considering Daisy felt bad having her friend do all the work while she just walked.
She dusted her hands on her jeans, leaving dirt residue on them but choosing to ignore the small imperfection and focus on their task, even if the darkness outside was creeping her out. Her head whipped around violently when she thought she heard something.
Nancy broke the silence. "What did she even eat?"
"What?"
"Eleven," Nancy said with a simple nod.
"Oh." Mike caught on and continued after his pause. "Candy, leftovers, Eggos... She really likes Eggos."
"Who doesn't?" Daisy shook her head. "But, this is weird considering she actually does have powers."
"We told you." Mike bluntly said. "You just chose to ignore it."
"I knew you were acting weird. I just... I thought it was because of Will.. and I didn't expect Daisy to know about Eleven."
