JUNE DIDN'T REMEMBER HALF OF WHAT HAPPENED THE PREVIOUS NIGHT AND APPARENTLY, NEITHER DID ROBIN.She couldn't attempt to pry it out of anyone's mouth because she had disappeared and wasn't seen for the remainder of the disastrous night.
"I just can't believe I don't remember," June huffed and shook her head.
"Freaky, right? You were dancing like crazy, though." Robin laughed, keeping her eyes on the tray in front of her.
June looked at her with narrowed eyes and curiosity seeping from the slits. Robin shrugged her shoulders in confusion and waited for June to speak.
"You're not lying to me — are you?"
"No!" Robin went right into defense mode. June pursed her lips, raising her eyebrows at the same time with a small smile. "No, no. Why — why would you think that?"
June attempted to hide her snickers and ended up letting out a laugh, saying, "I was just kidding!" Her hand squeezed Robin's wrist carefully, letting go to take another bite out of her sandwich.
Out of the corner of her eye, Robin could see Billy and the rest of his goons laughing, some of them even mentioning Daisy's name, which caused June to snap her head toward the group.
Robin did know one thing for sure and it was replaying in her mind like a broken record; the moment June and Billy began arguing and the girl called off the date.
"Maine was morons, here are just pure assholes," June grumbled, locking eyes with Billy who now seemed to be glaring at her directly. "Jesus.."
It felt like she couldn't tear her eyes away from him but felt haunting in a way. June looked away and tried to play it off — how the first guy who was actually somewhat interested in her turned cold all within a day.
She nodded slowly and tried to find the correct words to speak. "Robin?" The blonde girl hummed and looked at June. "I most definitely screwed up."
"It's a long story that has been shared around in almost all of my classes," Robin didn't know what she expected to happen when those words tumbled out of her lips, but all June did was groan and slam her head down on the table. "I'm sorry.."
"And I just thought I fell asleep early," June said quickly, face reddening with every moment that passed by.
It all just felt like pure bad luck for the Kilburn's and Hugo's today and it would just get worse. June sighed and patted Robin's hand.
"This is a terrible second impression of me." She smiled, letting her hand linger on top of Robin's a little longer before letting go.
"Both match you a lot, actually — I mean that as a compliment, by the way!" Robin said. Her eyes were wide and her hands were up as she tried to explain herself without knowing she had done nothing wrong in June's eyes.
June's smile never faltered — not even for a second, her soft eyes scanning Robin's expression. The moment she looked away was the exact moment that Robin realized she had been holding in a breath. "I think you're one of the few people I actually like here."
In a swift moment, Daisy sat down across from them at their table, surprising both girls out of their trance but all Daisy did was continue to glare at another table. Her interruption didn't bother June and Robin, rather it worried the two girls, especially with how flushed Daisy's face was. There was a hint of dried tears near her nose and cheeks.
"Oh, my God," June muttered under her breath with wide eyes.
"Um.. are you okay?"
Robin nearly jumped out of her seat when Daisy's eyes snapped to stare at her instead.
