Kidnapped by the commission at a young age, due to being a risk to the timeline. The Handler had attempted to kill her once but failed, so to even things out she kept Echo locked up for 43 years. After many babysitters and commission workers looking...
"I feel like that a metaphor for something, I'm just not sure what."

Echo rested her cheeks on her knuckles, her eyes examining Five, letting his story awe her. Even if it was her hundredth time hearing it, the boys trauma sickened her to shock. "I survived on scraps. Canned food, cockroaches, anything I could find." Although the woeing words, Five chuckled, "You know that rumour that Twinkies have an endless shelf life? Well, it's total bullshit."
"I can't even imagine." Vanya pitied the male.
"You do whatever it takes to survive, or you die." Five explained, "So we adapted. What ever the world threw at us, we found a way to overcome it."
"We?"
"You got anything stronger?" Five gestured to his mug of coffee. Vanya showed them to the kitchen area of the main room, serving some alcohol.
Echo stared at the amber, brown liquid, unaware of what it is or it's effects. She let it wash her upper lip, moving the glass away. The girl licked the excess, "Gross." she cringed at the burnie taste, sticking her tongue out.
"You think I'm crazy." The time-traveller scoffed after taking a long sip of his beverage.
"No. " His sister stammered, "It's just...it's a lot to take in."
"What exactly don't you understand?"
"Why didn't you just travel back?" Vanya quizzed, clearly unknowing to how stupid she sounded.
"Gee, I wish I'd thought of that." Sarcasm slipped from Five tongue like it was his second language, "Time-travel is a crapshoot. I went into the ice and never acorn-ed. You think I didn't try everything to get back to my family?"
"If you grew old there, you know, in the apocalypse, how come you still look like a kid." All through Vanya's life, she was an outsider. She was a daisy in a sunflower field, destined to blend in. Small and blank amongst the boisterous and yellow. Being truest with such heavy information was foreign to her, her tini petals flop under the weighty burden.
"I already told you." He approached the counter, pouring another drink, "I must have got the equations wrong."
"I mean, Dad always used to say that...time-travel could mess up your mind. Well, maybe that's what's happening?"
The red-head sucked in a sharp breath at the words, the cold air drying her teeth. "This was a mistake" Five slammed down the cup, "You're too young..." He snatched the ginger, aiming for the exit, "Too naïve to understand."
"No, Five...Five, wait." Vanya yelled after him, "I haven't seen you in a long time, and I don't want to lode you again. That's all. And you know what, it's getting late, and...I have lessons early, and I need to sleep, and I'm sure you two do, too." She fixed up the sofa for them, "Hope you two don't mind sharing" She laid out a blanket, "We'll talk in the morning again. Okay? I promise." She slouched off to her bedroom, "Night."
