Although Loreth could walk now, she still had moments where she wasn't so sure-footed and wobbled a bit until someone gave her an arm to lean on. Even though the poor girl looked like a new born fawn, shakily trying to navigate the world on stilts, it was so much better than being carried everywhere. She'd been given an extra pair of trousers which were far too big for her and had to be tied around her waist.

Loreth had finally felt that she had established herself amongst the group, and a sense of pride caused a bit of a skip in her step. This was very ballsy on her part because she had such a hard time walking anyway, and now she was skipping? Needless to say, that on more than one occasion a disgruntled dwarf was lifting her up off the grassy floor.

As the journey continued, Loreth found herself returning to the hobbit's side. Bilbo was so full of lovely stories and tales of home, that Loreth soaked up every word. When he would say things that she didn't understand she would innocently ask what they were. The company found it endearing at first but it quickly became frustrating—although no one would admit this to the mermaid aloud. It was truly astonishing how little she knew of the world, but they couldn't say they blamed her, it wasn't her fault she was isolated in that lake.

The company had decided to stop for the day on this little out cropping of a cliff. Bilbo had shown Loreth how to properly feed a pony before they walked back to where dinner was being cooked over the fire. Tonight it was a deer that Kili had shot with his bow and arrow.

Loreth sat a ways away from the fire. She learned the hard way that you can't touch the fire. The fire hurts when you get to close. It was extremely dry too at that.

Dryness was another issue she was experiencing. The woman had never been out of water for so long before and it caused her own skin to itch, mainly her legs. It was uncomfortable but it was better than being stuck in her solitude with the tail again.

The young woman rubbed her shoulders after a cold chill shook her form. Something else she wasn't used to being out of the water was, the temperature. She could handle the cold lake water during the winter with ease, but now, it was as if she was a warm blooded being now. Her body craved warmth, and when it was too hot, yearned for the coolness of a tree's shade.

A voice pulled her from her thoughts, "you should sit closer to the fire."

She looked up and saw Thorin towering over her, his hands on his hips. An almost amusing look in his eyes.

Loreth shook her head, "fire scares me." She tried to speak lowly so the others wouldn't hear. She wasn't sure why she was even telling Thorin's this, but it just sort of came out.

There was something about him that brought this out of her. She couldn't for the life of her figure out what it was, but she had to admit that she didn't mind it as much as she felt she should.

Thorin looked to the fire and back to her, "you would be warmer."

"I would be closer to what hurt me." She said and held up her red and irritated finger that had gotten too close to the flame.

Thorin couldn't help the little chuckle that came from him," so it would seem. Here," he said and moved his hand to his fur coat clasped around his neck. Loreth watched on as he removed his coat and held it out for her to take.

She immediately shook her head, "oh no, Thorin, I'll be ok with my bed roll. I appreciate your kindness though."

"It wasn't a choice. I'm giving it to you, Loreth. Take it." He held it out a little more for her to take.
