The elves actually put trays of food through the door for breakfast which was nice. Loreth was very hungry to say the least. Thorin looked over at her, having barely started eating his own and her tray was picked clean of food. Not even a crumb was left.
Thorin passed her his tray," take mine."
"Oh no. It's yours; you need to eat." She kindly declined his offer.
"I'm not asking. You need it more than I." He placed it in her lap before she could protest further.
Loreth sighed in dismay, knowing there was no point in fighting him on the matter. She was a little relieved because she was still very hungry even though she hadn't said so out loud. Thorin watched with a soft smile on his face as she ate.
"I wager the sun is on the rise," came bofur's voice, "must be nearly dawn."
Ori's sad voice that echoed next nearly broke Loreth's heart, "We're never gonna reach the mountain are we?"
Suddenly a voice came they didn't not expect, "not stuck in here you're not."
"Bilbo!" Everyone gushed and gave praise.
Loreth and Thorin ran to the bars, where Bilbo was jingling a set of keys. A breath Loreth didn't know she'd been holding escaped her. There was hope at last.
One by one Bilbo let the dwarves out. The company had started to go up the stairs but Bilbo urged them to follow him. Not having much of a choice the company followed Bilbo, leading them to the elves' cellars. Hundreds of bottles of wine lined the walls. Many of the dwarves couldn't believe their eyes.
Everyone stood next to a stack of barrels.
"Everyone, climb into the barrels quickly." Bilbo ordered. Many questioning looks were sent his way.
"Are you mad?" They countered.
"Please you have to trust me!" Bilbo whisper shouted. The dwarves still didn't listen so he looked to Thorin and Loreth.
Thorin gave the word, "do as he says." And with that the dwarves groaned and complained as they climbed into the barrels. Just at Loreth went to climb inside a barrel, the hobbit stopped her.
"Loreth, not you." Bilbo said," but stand on the platform, just there." He pointed.
Loreth was confused but followed his instruction nonetheless.
She thought it kind of funny when the dwarves poked out their heads, "what do we do now?" Bofur asked.
"Hold your breath." Was all Bilbo said before pulling a lever. A chute opened beneath them and gravity pulled them down into a fast flowing stream of water. Now Loreth knew why he didn't want her in a barrel when she can just swim freely.
She let her legs merge into one and the familiar and beautiful tail formed in their place. She had to admit that the water felt amazing on her skin. At first it was very chilly then the temperature was almost nonexistent as she traded her legs for a tail. She swam under the water and barrels and resurfaced beside Thorin's barrel, reaching up she held onto the side.
"You ok?" He worried.
She smiled, "never better." Then Bilbo was falling from above. Once he caught up, it was time to move. Word had already traveled of their escape from the cells. They were perused by very angry elves as they traveled through the water. Loreth felt sorry for the others as she could skillfully jumped over waterfalls whilst they had to be plunged underneath the water and battered against rocks.
