The dwarves and Thorin were fully dressed for war and soon they would leave with a grand entrance. They would begin by sounding the horn and knocking down the stone wall they had built. It was definitely going to call attention to them.

However, Loreth was growing impatient. She knew what she wanted to do, and there was no way Thorin would allow her to do it.

"Are we ready?" Thorin looked to his followers. They gave a chorus of "aye" in response. Ready to give those goblins and orcs a taste of dwarvish iron.

"Thorin?" Loreth started nervously, "I want to go too."

He shook his head, "absolutely not. I need you here where it's safe."

Loreth chewed on her lip," I can't just sit here and do nothing while I wait for one of the company to be killed. It's not in my blood either. What if..." she paused for a moment. Her mind had reeled back to someone she had met months ago. Just after leaving Rivendell, "what if my safety was guaranteed?"

Thorin's brow furrowed in confusion, "how can you guarantee that?"

Loreth turned and looked to the great dark hall of Erebor, hoping she wasn't about to make a fool of herself, "Fāelina," she whispered into the spacious room, "I need you."

The dwarves repeated the funny name they heard her say. But their mumbles were quickly silenced when the  a thud came from the shadow. Then another and another, they echoed through the empty halls.

Out of the shadow stepped a beautiful creature. Blacker than shadow, four feathered hooves and long wavy mane that trailed the floor. A long onyx horn protruding from its forehead. Loreth grinned as she approached her, petting her softly on her nose.

The dwarves were in awe, finally able to see her for the first time.

"I thought they were just stories," Ori spoke breathlessly.

Fāelina spoke telepathic but now so that all could hear her, "That's the thing about stories, young dwarf, there are always some truth to them."

Thorin stepped closer next to Loreth, "Can you keep her safe?"

The unicorn bobbed it's head like a nod, "With my life. Nothing will harm a hair on her head, king Thorin, son of Thrain. My magic will repel all that dares to do her harm."

Thorin looked to Loreth considering it. Loreth had pleading doe eyes that he could not resist. The king grabs her arm gently, " Please be careful, amrâlimê. It's not just you I'm worried about."

"We'll be fine. We are far safer than you are about to be I imagine." Loreth chuckled. She placed a kiss to his cheek before Thorin helped her onto the unicorn.
