The next morning found the two too quickly in Sky's opinion. She was dreading the talk she will most likely have to endure and the visit they will be making to Lucy and Mattie's, but that would only happen around noon.
"Good morning Sunshine. How are you feeling?" Mason asked Sky. She looked at him and sighed.
"Still a little sore, but other than that I'm fine."
"Ok, how about breakfast on me?" he asked. She just scoffed.
"What are you, payin' or something'? 'Cause there ain't nothin' to buy around here."
"I ain't payin' for notin'. All I meant was that I will make you breakfast, as a sort of sorry that I was such a douche to you last night," he replied in earnest.
"You can make me breakfast but that does not mean anything."
"Cool. See you on the other side, pumpkin," he said jokingly.
"Don't call me that, my dad used to call me that," she mumbled under her breath.
"Didn't mean to upset you."
"Honey, you've already done that," Sky said sarcastically.
"Come to the kitchen in about twenty minutes, 'kay?"
"Sure, whatever," she replied and got up to get ready for the day.
*~*
"Okay, she said the room number is two, fifty-eight," Sky said as she and Mason walked in the hallway one floor below their own. They had been walking for a good five minutes trying to find Lucy's apartment. Once they had located the stairs they had turned left only to realize that the numbers were increasing, so they had to turn around and follow the numbers so they were decreasing. They finally found the door.
"Okay, 2-5-8, Yes! Mase this is it! Should we knock?" Sky asked excitedly.
"Well duh, what else do you wanna do? Just knock the door down and make an entrance?" He answered sarcastically.
"Your sarcasm is not appreciated at the moment mister," Sky feigned anger, but a laugh escaped her lips. He just raised an eyebrow.
"Are you okay? You are acting really weird," he seemed very concerned but she just waved him off and knocked on the door.
"I am just exited to do something, kindda normal," She said as the door opened to reveal a smiling little boy.
"Can I help you with something?" the little boy asked. He looked older than three, maybe five, odd, Sky thought.
"Yeah, we're here to see your parents. Is Lucy, your mom, here?" Sky asked as she bent down so she would be the same height as the boy.
"Yeah they're here. Come in, I guess. MOM! PEOPLE ARE HERE!" The boy yelled into the room.
"Coming! Jared, dear, let them in, would you?" Sky heard from somewhere in the flat.
"Okay, I guess it is okay to let you guys in," he opened the door a little further. "As you probably guessed, my name is Jared, and this is our home. It probably looks just like yours," he told them while leading them into the kitchen where they saw a man cooking something; his back was to them. They also saw Lucy dicing some vegetables and three little kids playing on the floor. One of them looked older then the other two and looked oddly similar to Jared, they were both paler in complexion, while the other two were darker and had inherited their mothers blue eyes.
"You made it!" Lucy cried out. She dropped the knife she was holding and rushed around the counter to greet her guests. She hugged Sky and squealed, and turned to Mason.
