With the promises they made to each other Sky and Mason lived the next couple of months in peaceful bliss. They lived like a newly wed couple, in love and on cloud nine, not really registering anything around them.
Lucy had her baby in early January; it was their first little girl. They named her Anna; she was a very small baby and did not cry much. Within the week Lucy was back in the fields picking pears beside a six month pregnant Sky. Lucy had tied the newborn onto her front with a very thick strip of cloth, that way she can still work and have the baby close to her. Sky had only recently realized that the younger children sat underneath a tree close to the orchards while the older ones were nowhere to bee seen.
"Lucy? Where is Jared?" Sky asked curiously. Lucy physically stiffened at the mention of Jared's absence.
"He had to go to school. There are classrooms where the children that are born here have to attend. I am not sure what they learn but I can imagine that it can't be good. Jared has been in a mood all week, and he doesn't want to talk about it. He is only five," she told Sky sadly. Lucy smiled in a way to change the mood and commented on how well Sky looked.
"Have you guys decided on some names yet?" Lucy asked.
"Not really, I have a few in mind but we haven't really thought about it. We don't even know what the gender is," Sky confessed a little embarrassed that she didn't even know that.
"Oh! Honey, it's a surprise for all of us. They don't have the technology here to do that, plus it is a nice surprise when you find out." Lucy told her with a shrug.
"Oh! Okay, that makes sense, I guess," Sky answered. They worked in silence for a time.

With what Lucy had mentioned about names earlier that day, Sky walked into the apartment mulled over the different types of names she would want her child to carry for the rest of its life. She was lost in thought and hadn't realized that Mason was talking to her until he waved a hand in front of her face.
"...to me? What are you thinking about? Sky?" Mason was asking but Sky only heard half of his long rant.
"What is it Mason!" she snapped, but regretted it almost instantly, "sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you. I was just thinking about what kind of name we should give our little one."
"Snap cakes! I forgot about that, we would have been in the delivery room without a name for the baby," Mason snapped his fingers as he said thus. "Do you have a name in mind?" he asked after a couple of minutes.
"I was thinking, maybe Xander if it's a boy. But I got nothing for a girl at the moment."
"Why Xander?"
"I don't know, because I don't know anyone with that name. And I like how cool it would look when it is written, you know with an 'X'," Sky replied while taking various ingredients out of the fridge so they could prepared supper.
"I like it, Xander for a boy it is. Hey, Sky? What about Lindsay?" he asked after a couple of minutes of them chopping veggies.
"I know a Lindsay, she's a bitch," she replied.
"Okay, not that name then, what about Cora?"
"My sister's name was Cora."
"Victoria or for short Vicky?"
"Fuck Mason! That is also a name that I don't want! That's my mother's name," Sky's jaw was clenched because she knew that she was telling way too much about her family. She didn't want him to know just how messed up her family was, so she did the only thing she could think of in that moment. She grabbed him from the collar of his shirt and kissed him like he was the only oxygen in a room full of carbon dioxide.
