"Hmmm...."

"Um... is everything alright, Y/n?"

You made eye contact with Lev. "Yeah. Just tryna figure out the best way to go about to training your long limbs in volleyball."

Lev learned something after spending some time with you for volleyball- you become blunt when you're focused on something. "What are we working on first? Or... what do you think would be best to work on first?"

"Receives. Nekoma is notorious for our incredible defense. All players have to have the bare minimum of average receives. And since you're brand new to volleyball, no one will be expecting an a-pass from you- at least, not anytime soon."

"A-pass?"

You blinked. "It's a receive that goes directly to where the setter is- meaning the setter won't have to run to get the ball so he can toss it up for the spiker."

Lev sat down next to. "Oh."

You looked down at all the notes you wrote in a notebook- all of which done continuously since bringing Lev to the club, causing you to be currently running on no sleep and barely any food. "But if you can't give a-passes, Kenma wouldn't want you to receive since he'd prefer getting a receive that won't require him to need to run- or just move in general. Though, we can worry about that later. We just need to get you started on the basics for now."

Lev looked at your notes. "Wow. You made a lot of notes."

"Mhm." You didn't even look up at him. "I kinda needed to, considering you never played till now and the team has standards for who's eligible to be starting players, even have requirements for the extra players to bring. Those extras are waiting, often considered 'bench warmers', and only get switched with other players in an emergency."

"Like an injury?"

"Exactly. Or it could even be a strategy used by the coach, for any possible reason. Anyway, let's get back to how practices are gonna go for you. Right now, we just need you to start with working on recieves. Once those are good, Tetsu will be helping me train you with blocks. And then we can worry about serves and spikes, along with anything else the team might want you to know- like strategies and stuff like that- at a later date. Got it?"

Lev looked at you, almost like he was in a daze. "That was a lot."

You sighed, quickly smiling towards him. "Come on, let's start on those receives!" You stand, quickly stretching your arms and legs.

Lev stands up, copying your stretches before saluting. "Yes, ma'am!"

"Lev, please stop using your arms to receive."

"Do you want me to use my legs instead? I thought you said the ball is supposed to hit my arms?"

You sighed, realizing this was even harder than you could've ever imagined. "That's not what I meant...."

Kuroo, along with almost the entire team, had started snickering at the scene. "Having trouble there, shortcake?"

You turned to look at him, your tiredness showing. "If it's that obvious to you, why don't you come give me a hand, captain?"

Kuroo flinched, realizing he struck a nerve with you, but he walked over all the same. "Lev, what our lovely manager here is trying to say, you keep moving your arms up once the ball makes contact."

"Am I not supposed to do that?"

"No, you're not."

Lev tipped his head to one side. "Then how do I get the ball into the air and to where I want it to go?"

Kuroo moved to stand behind you, then grabbed your hips with his hand. "A receive is almost completely all in the hips. Y/n, drop into a receiving stance and we can demonstrate."

Morisuke was glaring at Kuroo. "Get your hands off my sister, Kuroo!"

You nodded as he took his hands off your waist, completely ignoring your older brother. "Watch how I receive Tetsu's serve."

Lev nodded. "Ok."

Kuroo smirked as he held a volleyball up. "I'll hit it lightly so I don't hurt your arms, ok shortcake?"

You frowned. "Full force or Mori's going after you for touching me and calling me shortcake."

Kuroo flinched, completely unable to hide his fear. "Full force coming at ya."

Something the team learned in that moment: you take volleyball so serious it's scary... and that you and Morisuke really are siblings.

Kuroo jumped and hit the ball, aiming right for you. In a split second, you dropped your hips lower instinctively- looking almost exactly like your brother when he receives. And just like your brother, you receive the ball flawlessly- sending it back to Kuroo, where it landed right in front of the messy haired captain and bounced, nearly hitting him in the face.

Everyone in the room was stunned at how you received a serve from Kuroo at full force as expertly as you had.

Morisuke was surprised, but was brimming with too much pride to hold back. "As expected of my baby sister!"

You stood up straight, acting as if you didn't just look like a professional volleyball player with that perfect receive, and turned to Lev. "Alright, Lev. See what I did there?"

He blinked a few times before opening his mouth. "Are you a pro?"
