"Wait... so what do I have to do for serves and spikes?"
You sigh, looking at Lev with a weak smile. "You're not getting started on those yet. We still need you to work on your blocks and receives for a bit longer."
Lev groaned, having only worked on blocks and receives since joining the volleyball club. "But that's all I ever do! Why can't I join the others with all the cooler stuff?"
You pat the tall boy's back. "Sorry, Lev. I wish I could tell you that you can do all that really soon... but we need your blocks and receives to get at least a bit better without me needing to get physically involved before allowing you to try learning something completely different."
Lev sat on the ground by your feet, beginning to pout a bit. "That's not fair."
You sigh, sitting down beside him and ruffling his hair. "I'm sorry, Lev."
"It only seems unfair because you don't understand how long and hard all of us have worked our whole lives to get to our current level." Your older brother came over, as did the rest of the team once they heard Lev's whining... and your lack of scolding and lecturing him.
You look up at your brother, frowning. "That's uncalled for."
"No, your unconditional kindness and being too damn soft on Lev is completely uncalled for, Y/n." He snapped back. "Stop treating him better than the rest of the team. When are you going to give up and accept that he sucks and will never really be a part of this team?"
You glared. "Never. When are you gonna give up playing because you always lose to either Fukurodani or Itachiyama and never get the chance to go to the Inter-High or the nationals?" You shot right back at the rest of the team- mainly the older members- with a bit of hostility.
Kuroo flinched noticeably, then looked down at you with a serious gaze. "We can't just give up because we lose, even if we keep losing. We have to get stronger and keep trying."
You grinned slightly. "So why should it be any different with Lev? As I see it, he's the exact same with learning the sport as you guys are when playing against the prefecture's powerhouses."
There was silence in the gym for a few moments.
That was until Kuroo chuckled. "Shortcake's right. No need to make Lev feel unwanted simply because he isn't doing as well as we wished he did."
Your eyes widened, a happy smile spreading across your face. "Really, Tetsu?"
The team's captain nodded, looking at you with fondness. "Yes, really. Here- Lev, why don't a few of us start helping you with your serves and spikes for the rest of practice today?"
Lev's eyes sparkled at the offer, quickly standing up with a stupidly large smile on his face. "I'd love to! Thank you, Kuroo-san." He turned to you with great appreciation held on his face. "Thanks to you too, Y/n."
You simply waved him off, a smile still plastered on your face. "It's what friends do. Now, go learn more volleyball!"
"Yes ma'am!" He smiled and saluted at you before turning away to practice with the more experienced members of the team.
Morisuke didn't move towards the court, instead he took a seat next to you. He remained silent, just sitting on the ground beside you.
"Mori?"
He let out a long sigh. "You still haven't answered my question from a few weeks ago."
You avert your gaze to the ground, unable to hold eye contact with your older brother. "I don't really know how to answer."
"You don't understand where exactly your feelings lay?"
You shook your head. "I can't tell if I like him as just a friend or if it's something different."
Morisuke nodded, not that you were looking directly at him to see. "I kinda figured as much."
You look up at him, surprised. "Really? With how upset you were, I thought you had just assumed my silence meant that I did like Lev as more than just a friend."
The boy flinched. "Well... I did, at first. But then I realized you never felt that way before and might not know the answer to it yourself. Sorry for acting like a terrible brother recently."
You chuckled. "It's fine. I understand you want to protect me and have certain views of the guys I'm currently around. It's totally normal to get worried about what decisions I might make when it comes to my future love life."
"I wasn't worried!"
You rolled your eyes. "Stop lying, Mori. I know you were fretting over my answer since the moment you asked. It was obvious. Especially once you started acting even more hostile with Lev than usual."
"It's not cuz of that I was acting ruder to Lev."
Your eyes widened briefly. "Then why were you almost always trying to kill Lev if it wasn't because of how close we were getting and my lack of an answer to your question?"
"Because in the club room, Lev said he-"
"WATCH OUT!"
Your brother was cut off by Yamamoto shouting, a ball flying in your direction.
Before you could even begin processing the situation, you felt something hit your head before your body sprawled out on the ground.
Morisuke's eyes widened as he saw the ball hit you, then seeing your unmoving body on the ground. Once his brain finished processing what happened, he turned to glare at all the guys on the court. "What the fuck?! Who did it?!"
Kuroo stood in front of Lev protectively. "Before you make assumptions, Yakkun-"
"LEV DID YOU JUST HIT MY BABY SISTER WITH A VOLLEYBALL?!"
Kuroo stopped the angry libero from moving from his spot beside you. "No, he didn't."
Yamamoto held a guilty expression on his face as he moved into Morisuke's view. "Sorry, Yaku-san. It was an accident."
Your brother glared at the ace. "What the fuck?! What did you do?!"
"I hit the ball wrong when spiking it! I'm really sorry for hitting Y/n-chan!"
The libero huffed as he turned back to your unconscious form, walking over and kneeling beside you. He gently placed his hand on your shoulder. "Y/n...?"
You laid there, still unmoving and silent.
Kuroo slowly walked over, also kneeling beside your limp form. "Looks like she's unconscious."
"No shit!"
