Make Him Happy

"Good morning Taehyungie hyung. Did I wake you up? " Jungkook immediately asked after hearing only a grunt on the other line. "Good morning Kookie. Why did you call so early?" Taehyung grumbled in his low bedroom voice. "Hyungie, it's 7 in the morning already and your first class is at 8. What time are you waking up during school days?" Jungkook really finds Taehyung funny.

He knows that the older one is having trouble with being punctual but never thought that he is this bad. Taehyung is still having a hard time waking up himself and it is obvious since instead of answering Jungkook's question he was just grumbling on the other line. This made Jungkook laugh and he was still laughing while saying, "Hyungie, you have to wake up. You still need to eat breakfast before going to school. Wake up sleepy head."

"Hmmm, I'm awake Kookie and you haven't answered my question."

"Oh right. Can you meet me at the courtyard before the first class starts because I have to give you something which I won't be able to just slip on your locker," Jungkook said excitedly.

"OK, I'll meet you there." Taehyung still sounded sleepy but at least this time he is already getting up from his bed. "Great. I'll see you there and please don't be late. Bye bye hyungie." Jungkook then ended the call when all he heard from the other line was just a grunt.

He then finished packing the lunch bag that he is preparing for Taehyung and his friend. He prepared two sets of carbonara, garlic bread and mushroom soup. He is so energetic and happy while packing all the food even though he had to wake up at 5 in the morning to prepare all of it from scratch.

"This is so unlike you, Kookie. You would usually wake up at 6:30 in the morning and most of the time you are sluggish while getting ready for school. What seems to be the occasion this time?" Namjoon asked right after he entered their kitchen, especially when the first thing that he saw was his younger brother who was almost jumping out of excitement.

"There is no occasion, hyungie." Jungkook went towards Namjoon to give him a hug and then turned towards Seokjin to say, "What time will we go, hyungie?"

"After your Namjoon hyung is done with his breakfast. Do you have any special request for dinner later, baby?" Seokjin asked his husband while preparing their three lunch boxes. Namjoon pulled Seokjin towards him and had the older one sit on his lap. "Why don't I bring you out for dinner for a change? Let's have a dinner date with just the two of us." Seokjin looked towards the direction of Jungkook who was now busy organizing his school bag. "OK, I'll prepare an early dinner for Kookie later then let's have our date around 8? Does that work for you, baby?"

"Sure, love. Let's do that." Namjoon said after softly kissing Seokjin's pouty lips then patted his butt when he got up to finish packing their food for lunch.

"Kookie, your brother and I will have a date later so I'll make an early dinner for you. We will be out of the house by 8pm," Seokjin shared the plan for the night to the younger one. "No problem hyungie and you don't have to cook for me since I know you have rehearsals today for the play and you might not have enough time to prepare dinner once we get home later." Jungkook can easily handle cooking his own dinner since Seokjin would usually teach him simple dishes.

Seokjin just nodded to show that he was agreeing then both of them started going their separate ways since they had arrived at their school. "See you later at lunch, hyungie." Jungkook said goodbye to the older.

"Hyungie, you're here already. I thought I'll be the first one to get here." Jungkook said while smiling at Taehyung. Taehyung then grabbed Jungkook's hands to make the younger one sit on the bench next to him.

"What is it that you're giving me Kookie?"

"Here, hyungie. This is for your lunch. I made 2 sets so that you can share it as well with your friend." Jungkook handed over the lunch bag that he prepared and he already felt happy after seeing the boxy smile on Taehyung's face.

"Wow, you don't have to do this, Kookie. But thank you so much. I will share it with Jiminie later for lunch. You made this yourself?" Taehyung was really happy after receiving the food because it was the first time that someone took such care for him, even his ex-girlfriend never did this for him. "Yes, hyungie, I made it myself. I hope you and your friend Jiminssi would like it. I have to go, hyungie because my class is starting soon." Jungkook started walking towards the direction of his department's building when he was stopped by Taehyung.

Jungkook got frozen because for the first time ever, Taehyung was hugging him.

"Thank you again, Kookie. I'll talk to you later." Taehyung said directly to Jungkook's ears then turned around and started walking to his classroom. Seeing the back of Taehyung made Jungkook move himself and he started walking with an obvious spring to his steps.

The rest of the week went on with Jungkook preparing homemade lunch for both Taehyung and Jimin. It made Taehyung so happy knowing that Jungkook really cares for him even to a point where the younger one would also worry about his health and eating habits. He was even amazed after knowing that everything that Jungkook prepared for him was freshly made.

There is just one thing that he is guilty about. One day he shared it with Jimin, "Chim, since the day that I've met Kookie he was always giving me gifts. But I haven't given him any. I'm always on the receiving end and this time I want to give something to him as well. Can you help me think of what to give him?"

"Sure Taetae. We can go to the mall later to look for something to buy so that you can give it to him tomorrow since we will be spending the whole day at their house."

"How I wish I'm as talented as Jungkook so that I can give him something that is handmade as well. He has given me a lot of things that he made himself. From his letters to his doodles to Yeontan's portrait and now every day he gives us delicious dishes for lunch." Taehyung feels so blessed having Jungkook in his life not only because of all the things that he have received from the younger but most definitely because of the fact that he has someone in his life other than his family who is willing to exert an immeasurable amount of effort just for him to be happy.

"I do see your point. Indeed it would feel extra special if someone would give you something handmade because then you'll know that the person giving it to you is willing to spend time and energy making such a gift. Do you know if Kookie has any other interests aside from painting and cooking? Something that we could use as a basis for your gift?" Jimin asked while browsing the Internet using his smartphone.

"He likes spending time in their garden. He said that he would usually paint there even if he had a studio next to his bedroom." Taehyung recalled how he and Jungkook spent time in their garden enjoying the gentle weather. "How about something like this? We can hire people to build something like this for Kookie and we will decorate it ourselves. For sure he will enjoy his garden more if he has this in it." Jimin showed the photos he was looking at on his smartphone to Taehyung.

"This is a great idea Chim. I'll go to Mr. Kim's office right now and ask for his approval. Thanks Chim, you're the best." Taehyung hurriedly went looking for Seokjin to get the elder's approval for the surprise that he is planning to give to Jungkook. I really want to do this for Kookie because I want to make him happy. I hope this makes him happy.

Thank you for continuously reading this work of mine. I hope I'm not boring you with the story. I have this fear that the story is too boring because it's not really that creative 😅. I do this to challenge myself and as a way to divert my attention after I'm done with work. I have the tendency to be a workaholic and would always stress about my deliverables that I would worry about it even if I'm at home.
