Taehyung can't agree more with the idiom "Time flies when you're having fun" because that is exactly what he felt while spending time with Jungkook. Now he can see that the sun has set and the dark sky is full of stars. It would be the perfect time to show Jungkook the gift that he and Jimin had prepared.
He looked around the room and observed that everyone is still enjoying the movie series that they all decided to watch. Jungkook is sitting next to him with big round eyes that's solely focused on the big screen. He is hesitant to disturb the younger one but he really wants to show him the surprise.
So with a soft voice, Taehyung directly whispered to Jungkook's ear, "Let's go outside Kookie. I have to show you something."
Jungkook just nodded as a response because he couldn't trust that his voice won't be shaky after Taehyung's deep voice sent shivers down his spine. Taehyung stood up first and offered his hand for Jungkook to take, then addressed the whole group, "Everyone, I'll just take Jungkook to the garden. Would you like to join us, Jiminie?"
Jimin knew that his best friend just asked out of courtesy but would really prefer to be left alone with Jungkook. "It's OK Tae. You can show Kookie our gift to him. Besides you were the first one who decided to give him a gift. I just helped you with the idea," Jimin said with a smile.
"We'll go ahead then. Let's go Kookie." Taehyung started to drag Jungkook away from the group and Seokjin used that time to check on their dinner preparations.
"Since those two will need some private time, I'll just check on the progress of our dinner. We will be having French cuisine tonight. Our chef for today also prepared a grazing table for us to enjoy while we wait for the main course," Seokjin stated after standing up.
"Let's all transfer to the conservatory while Jinnie checks the activity in the kitchen," Namjoon stated. The rest of the group followed Namjoon to the conservatory which is located on the opposite side of the house away from the garden. This would give privacy to the two youngest who would surely want to spend time alone and without any disturbance.
"Everything is looking fine at the kitchen and it seems that the maknaes have at least an hour before we will have our dinner at the garden," Seokjin said upon arriving at the conservatory.
On the other side of the Kim household, Taehyung is about to present his gift to Jungkook. But before they could reach the garden, Taehyung stopped Jungkook and he stood behind the younger one to cover his eyes. "Do you really have to do this hyungie? I might have tripped because of this," Jungkook complained.
"You don't have to worry Kookie. Hyung will keep you safe." Taehyung led Jungkook all the way to the center of the garden area and took a deep breath to calm his nerves before the surprise reveal. "I hope you'll like this Kookie," Taehyung removed his hands from Jungkook's eyes and moved next to his side because he wanted to see Jungkook's reaction clearly.
Taehyung could clearly see how Jungkook gasped because of elation. All his worries vanished after seeing how Jungkook reacted towards his gift for the younger one. "I wanted to do something special for you to show you how much I appreciate all the things that you have done for me," Taehyung said this while holding Jungkook's hand. Taehyung softly tugged Jungkook's hand to make the younger one face him and took that chance to hold both of the younger's hands.
"Kookie you have made me so happy since the very first note that you have written for me. You kept reminding me that being me is enough during those times that my self esteem was at its lowest. You made me feel appreciated during every moment we spent with each other. Even when we are both busy you never fail to make me feel that you are always there for me. So I decided to make this pergola for you. I want you to have something that would always remind you of me. You told me how much you love to spend time outdoors here in your garden so I hope this would make your stay here more enjoyable. I designed this myself while thinking of you. I added a lot of fairy lights because every time I look in your eyes, I would always see a twinkle like these lights. I chose these chairs specifically because I remembered how you love to be comfortable while having conversations. And I even asked for a grilling station since you love samgyupsal." Taehyung wanted to make Jungkook feel how special he is to him.
Taehyung could clearly see that the younger one was getting teary eyed while he was explaining the details of the pergola and that made him panic a bit. "Why are you crying Kookie? Did I say something wrong?"
Instead of answering, Jungkook threw his hands around Taehyung and hugged him tightly. "Thank you very much hyungie. I love your gift for me. And I love you." Taehyung did not expect to hear those words from the younger man and he doesn't know how to respond. He knows that Jungkook likes him but he was not expecting that the younger's feelings run deep towards love.
He knows that he likes spending time with Jungkook and he finds the younger one attractive but love is such a deep emotion that he can't easily fathom. He can't easily trust his own emotions because he even thought that he loved his ex-girlfriend before and that he was able to show it properly but in the end he was still left behind.
What if he will also disappoint Jungkook because he can't even comprehend his own emotions? What if he won't be able to reciprocate the younger's feelings and even as a friend he will lose him. All these thoughts kept running through Taehyung's mind and in the end it was still Jungkook who was able to stop his troubled thoughts.
"You don't need to respond in any way, hyungie. You don't need to tell me the I love you too phrase. Whatever you can give, whatever is comfortable with you, whatever is it that you are willing to share to me, that would already be enough for me. I'm already happy to have you in my life in whatever form that may be. I would just like to ask a favor from you," Jungkook said while holding Taehyung's face.
"Tell me Kookie and I'll do it to the best of my abilities," Taehyung confidently stated while touching Jungkook's hands that are currently holding his face.
"Just let me love you hyungie. I promise that my love doesn't need to be returned. I promise that I won't bind you to me and that I understand my position in your life. I promise that I won't cross any line without your permission and would always respect your decision. I promise that I will never expect any kind of relationship aside from what you are comfortable to have with me. I promise you that I'll remain as your friend. Please allow me to be in your life even knowing that I love you so much," Jungkook said with full emotion.
"Won't that be unfair to you Kookie?"
Jungkook only shook his head and smiled with eyes full of love.
