"What's wrong, baby?"
Jungkook turned his prolonged gaze at the ceiling to the one he thought was still peacefully sleeping beside him.
She was lying on her side, the position increasing the peak of her hip and deepening the dip of her waist. Her arm across her breasts and the sheet draped over her hip gave her a little modesty but he was still very much aware that she was wearing nothing underneath. Moonlight filtering through the mini blinds streaked diagonal paths across her silky shoulder but just missed her face, giving her aura of equal parts mystery and feminine sensuality, something she radiated regardless of the time of day.
He didn't answer verbally. There was enough light in the room for her to see his brow furrow in question.
She let out an airy giggle at his faked ignorance. "Your thinking woke me up."
"If any of us could hear thoughts, it would be me," he chuckled. "Thankfully, I can't. I hear enough as it is."
"Trying to change the subject?" she smiled, seeing straight through him again. "You've been staring at the ceiling as if it has the answer to all of your problems."
The manufactured smile he wore fell by a fraction at the truth in her words. There was something on his mind. A lot, in fact.
Tucking his lips into his mouth, he contemplated denying she was right and blaming his insomnia on mid-term anxiety but it would take more mental energy to come up with a bullshit excuse than it would to just be honest. He was lying enough as it was, something that ate him up inside almost on a daily basis.
"I'm kind of nervous about tomorrow," he finally admitted. "No, not kind of. I'm...terrified."
'I'm fucking terrified' was what he wanted to say but at this early an hour, his internal censor hadn't woken up for it's shift yet and it almost slipped out.
But back to the subject of lies...
Lie #1: He didn't curse very often, instead using his intelligence to communicate his thoughts effectively.
Her expression melted into a sweet, empathetic smile. "You have nothing to worry about."
"Eh... I don't know about that. What happens if your family doesn't like me?"
Giggling again, she moved closer, and he moved his arm out of the way to accommodate her. Sealing her body against his, she wrapped her arm around his waist and rested her head on his chest, and he put his arm around her, holding her securely.
"What's not to like about you?" She asked. "You come from a supportive family..."
Lie #2.
"You're extremely handsome and incredibly smart..."
Ok, maybe those were true.
"You have a successful future ahead of you..."
Debatable, according to his 'supportive' mother.
"You have respect and integrity..."
Truth, and lie #3 by default respectively.
