Turning his body so that he wouldn't hit Dahlia's head against the doorframe, Jungkook followed her friends inside the dorm and stepped out of his shoes. Looking extremely judgmental for two different reasons, Savannah and Morgan watched his every move from where they sat on the couch. The former could barely contain her smile while the latter couldn't look any more unamused if she tried. Maybe now she would leave him alone.

Maybe now she would leave him alone!
Asshole mode activated.

He let go of Dahlia's arm and turned her body so that she was laying over one of his shoulders, then gently lowered her to the floor with an arm around her thighs and one on her back to keep her steady. Once she was back on her own two feet, she quickly lowered her shirt that had risen up a little, then pushed her wavy hair back behind her and out of her face.

Standing tall again, he looked down at her with a concerned gaze. "I didn't hurt you earlier, did I?" He asked, his voice deep and tone hushed.

From his periphery, he could see Savannah nudge Morgan and look at her with eyes as wide as saucers but Morgan's attention was already undivided. Morgan was dialed the fuck in.

Perfect.

He knew enough about the girl code to know that you don't go after someone your best friend had any kind of romantic or sexual thing with, so if it looked like he and Dahlia were messing around, that would make him off limits to Morgan.

Was it sneaky? Of course. But that was the fun part. It wasn't his fault if they assumed what he meant by his honest question. He and Dahlia had been play fighting and he didn't want to actually hurt her, just tease her.

He expected Dahlia to playfully hit him or even clap back and say something slick like 'my brothers hit harder than you.' Instead, she looked up at him through her lashes. Full lips slightly parted, he could hear the slight change in her breathing pattern. Everything about her demeanor said that she'd caught the subtle sexual innuendo, and this made the first time he'd ever seen her flustered.

"N-no," she said. "You didn't hurt me."

"Good," he said. "Let me know if I'm ever too rough with you."

Dark brown eyes flit back and forth between his for a few moments before she snapped back from wherever she had mentally gone. Blinking, she finally resumed breathing before responding with a softly spoken 'okay.'

Then as if he would be able to begin reading her thoughts if he stared long enough, she turned away and quickly went back into the kitchen, and he'd never wanted to follow her and find out exactly what was running through that mind of hers until that moment.

What emotion was swimming in those pretty brown eyes? He could be wrong, but her thoughts damn sure didn't look to be platonic.

Moistening his lower lip with his tongue, he remembered that they had guests still seated on the couch. Savannah was trying to play it cool but the poorly concealed smile said everything. So did Morgan's stone faced expression. They had fallen right into his impromptu trap.

What he hadn't expected was to catch Dahlia in it too.

The French toast was delicious just as he expected it to be. Thick slices of sweet bread were dredged in cinnamon and sugar before being toasted in a buttery skillet until golden brown. She even put powdered sugar on top and demanded they eat the rest of the berries she had because they wouldn't last another day. He was so stuffed afterwards that he wanted to curl up on the sofa and go back to sleep. Since that wasn't possible yet, he pushed himself from the chair and went into the kitchen where Dahlia was already collecting the dishes for washing.
