Back by the pool table, the music wasn't quite as loud, and a couple of men watched the pool game in progress, Bun being one of them. Maneuvering with the beer in his hand, he took off his jacket and draped it over a nearby chair, confirming that her eyes weren't deceiving her. He was wearing yellow.
Her feminine presence was something that all of the men surrounding the table somehow felt, as all of them turned their attention to Dahlia at about the same time. With her signature aura of confidence, she walked into the predominantly male space and commanded their attention without even saying a word. Her smile grew the closer she came to him, as did his, and when Bun casually gave her a hug, he could feel the curious stares as they wondered how the fuck he knew someone as sexy as her.
"Whassup, girl," he said lowly, hugging her around her waist, because fuck Dom.
"Hey, Bunny," she smiled.
"Thanks for coming out and showing love," he said, his gaze moving down her body. "You look good."
That was a severe understatement. The neckline of the dress she wore dipped low in the valley between her breasts, and the back stopped below her puffball of a tail. Simple yet sexy, its design was tempting, revealing her silhouette yet leaving enough mystery to send his imagination soaring into the stratosphere.
He moistened his lips with his tongue. That dress would be so easy to take off, if only he was ever blessed with the privilege to.
If her memory served her correctly, it was the first public compliment he'd ever paid her, and the feeling was mutual. "Thank you. So do you. That shirt looks good on you."
Smirking, he looked down at himself. "This old thing?" He joked. "I just threw this on."
She giggled, her dimples cutely indenting her cheeks. "That's um... an interesting color choice, too."
"Like I said, I just threw this on. Seems to be a hot topic of discussion tonight, tho."
Tilting her head, she gave him a knowing look. "Come on, Bunny. I've lived with you for how many months now? I've never seen you wear yellow. Now you're tryna tell me you wore a yellow shirt to a stoplight party for no other reason than it being in your closet?"
Yet again, she wasn't afraid to call him out on his bullshit, something that was as amusing as it was attractive. He tucked his lips into his mouth and looked away, chuckling through his nose.
"Come on, now," she repeated, leaning forward a little and chasing his gaze.
That accent was deadass doing something to him.
Regaining his composure, he put on an air of nonchalance and shrugged, looking her in the eye and taking a drink of his beer after.
"Things are complicated with you, huh?" She asked.
There was no use in pretending if she already figured it out. "Yeah, you could say that."
Instead of calming her curiosity, the confirmation only led her to question further, namely who it could be that had him in his feelings. It wasn't any of her business but she rationalized it as one friend being curious about another. Pup and Kit would want to know what was up too.
"I hope things get better between you and Joy," she said.
It was a covert, maybe even sneaky way to get her question answered but on the other hand, it would be naive to not even consider the possibility that Joy was the cause. Until recently, they were together often, something that made her feel an emotion she had no business feeling when she had a boyfriend.
