While softly singing along to the music playing from her phone on the counter, Dahlia moved through the kitchen, gathering the ingredients she needed for her breakfast. Taking the eggs and milk out of the fridge, she rolled her hips to the beat, then grabbed the butter and nudged the door closed with her arm. As she grabbed her spices and the small bag of ripe avocados from the counter, she inwardly chuckled at the memories of her and her sisters dancing around the kitchen while they prepared meals for the family. With her flight home leaving in a few hours, it wouldn't be long before they would again take part in that tradition.

Dressed in a black tank and basketball shorts, Bun came out of his room, bed hair untouched and oily face puffy from the sleep he'd probably just ended moments ago. The common area wasn't that bright since it was so early but he still scowled as what light that was there hit his eyes.

He would probably mean mug her or fire back a snarky comeback if she said it aloud, but early morning, sleepy head Bun was pretty cute.

"Good morning," she smiled.

Trudging toward the kitchen, he yawned wide before muttering, "Whassup?"

Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he grabbed his box of cereal from the top of the fridge but then paused when he looked over at what she was about to prepare. Frowning, his shoulders fell as he let out a frustrated sigh.

"Man, I know whatever you making gon be good as fuck," he whined, his voice deep and rough from sleep.

Dahlia giggled. "Did you just have a tantrum?"

"I don't want no fucking cereal," he complained. It was more to himself than to her but him slapping the box back in its place answered her question.

"I'm just making avocado toast with some scrambled eggs on top," she smiled. "There's enough for you to make some too."

Expression going serious, he silently stared down at her for several moments. "You know I can't cook, right?"

Placing a hand on her hip, she lifted her brow and stared right back up at him. "You know that's about to change, right?"

At the mere notion, his eyes opened fully for the first time that morning. "Huh?"

"If you can 'huh', you can hear," she smirked. "Wash your hands and grab one of those eggs. You finna learn how to eat good without depending on a woman."

The stunned look on his face made her have to bite down on her lip to keep from laughing out loud but he began washing his hands like he was told. Turning away, she got a couple of bowls from the cupboard and sat one in front of him. He looked down at it, then at her, apprehensive.

"Come on, Bunny. I know you've cracked an egg before."

"Of course I've cracked an egg, girl!" He said. "Why you on my neck first thing in the morning? Damn."

Comically mean mugging her, he took an egg out of the carton, then chewed on his lower lip as he tapped the egg against the edge of the bowl a couple of times until it finally cracked. His inexperienced fingers gingerly pried it open with just a little too much strength, causing his thumb to break through it. The egg dropped into the bowl but so did a fractured shard of the shell.

With almost childlike innocence, he immediately looked at her bashfully. "I'mma get that out."

He then picked up a spoon and began his unsuccessful attempt to scoop the shell out when Dahlia placed a hand on his forearm to stop him. His inexperience was endearing but as much as she liked giving him just as much of a hard time as he often gave her, she didn't have the heart to watch him struggle when he was honestly trying.
