The last box slid easily across the freshly shampooed carpet as Dahlia pushed it into her new bedroom. Her door was hastily closed, leaving the lanky dictator outside in the common area. Thankfully Jungkook had said nothing more to her while she moved the rest of her things but the tension in the air was so thick that she didn't give him much time to.
Reaching behind her back, she turned the lock and immediately rolled her eyes at herself for doing so. It wasn't like he was going to burst into the room to continue pestering her like one of her brothers, or at least she hoped he wouldn't. If anything, he looked more like he wanted to ignore her existence, which was fine by her. The last thing she wanted was to be stuck with another older brother type.
Putting him out of her mind for the moment and tucking her wavy hair behind her ear, she took a look around her new room. The double bed, small dresser, and a nightstand took up most of the space. The beige carpet was well worn, and the thin closet door said that it was probably the size of a file cabinet. One wall had a large patch of paint that was just a tiny bit darker than the rest, evidence that a repair had been made at some point.
Looking more closely, she could see more smaller patches that seemed to have been repaired as well. Perhaps the previous tenant had trouble moving their things in or out, the room was so small.
It didn't matter anyway. Her room may not have been what she was expecting but she didn't care. At 21 years old, Dahlia Clover finally had her own room.
She picked up a box and sat it on the bed. Opening the flaps and seeing her belongings waiting to be unpacked renewed the excitement that was sapped from her a few moments ago. Photo frames of the people closest to her heart were carefully removed from the box and a small smile came to her lips. Her sister's smiling faces surrounded her own, their cheeks squished together as they all crammed into the limits of the camera's view. They were packed so tightly that the sparkling tiara Dahlia wore denoting her as the birthday girl was knocked crooked on her head, making her have to tilt her head to the side to keep it from falling off.
She sat the photo on the nightstand, followed by a small lamp and her wireless charger. Those few things made the space feel more like her own and her mind began buzzing with ideas of how to decorate. Even the simple freedom of choosing what her room looked like was hers and now that she got to feel what that freedom felt like, she promised herself that it was something else she refused to let Jeon mess up.

The peacemaker inside her, the older sister that governed her younger siblings with fairness while adhering to the decrees of her elders felt a twinge of regret that they'd gotten off on the wrong foot. Hopefully, Ivy was right and they would soon warm up to each other.
A deliciously made dessert, especially a warm slice of apple pie beside a scoop of ice cream was sure to melt any icy exterior. Dahlia had been craving it ever since she opened her box and caught the lingering hint of cinnamon from its contents. If she made one, he'd have no choice but to submit.
Unless he was weird and didn't like apple pie.
Her tiny closet was quickly filled to capacity with her clothes and the heavy blanket her mother made her bring, and her bed was neatly dressed before she flopped onto it and sprawled out like a starfish. Night would fall eventually and it meant she could stretch out and sleep without worrying about kicking Violet in the stomach or Poppy in the head or falling out of bed trying to avoid them both.
She had plenty of nights sleeping like a starfish ahead of her but first, pie.
Standing up, she pulled her black cotton shorts back down to cover the cuff of her bottom again. If she was going to attempt killing anyone with kindness, she needed to put her kitchenware away.
