Fracture
A familiar soft and warm palm captured me by the elbow, stopping me from walking aggravatingly.
"You do not have to leave alone." Geon amended.
I faced him. I looked bravely into his sullen eyes. Though, I can see the determination in it. His face did not relax either.
"I wish to be alone," I said, pausing from sheer weakness.
"Come with me and I'll prove they're wrong." There's a little pleading note in his voice.
I shook my head, still eyeing the cruel dark eyes. Tinanggal ko ang kamay niya. Tila nabaling sanga iyon sa aking ginawa.
Hindi kami magkakaintindihan ngayon. Mainit pa ang aming sitwasyon. Pare-pareho naming kailangan magpalamig.
I ready myself to depart.
"Bumalik ka sa pamilya mo. Hayaan mo muna ako ..." my voice sounded metallic.
"Laire—"
"Just give me a break!"
It's too late to realize I elevated my voice annoyingly. I heard nothing from him after that. He was mum and I felt sorry.
The primitive deep nature within me stirred.
Upon observing the bouncers who guard outside an establishment, the people who wear crook and swag outfits, and loud music, I am certain I lost myself again.
I nodded.
"Which drinks do you want? Virgin, wild, or gentle?" He sounded professional, though a natural pleasure-seeker.
"Neither. Water will do." Mahinahon kong sinabi.
Talaga bang tubig lang sinadya mo sa bar ko?" he asked gently, but there's an emphasis on the last two words.
I do admit I used to go and drink in a place like this. Because I am with my trusted friends.
"Ano ngayon?"
Hindi siya nagpatinag sa pagtataray ko. Tumawa siya. "I'll give you free drinks—your choice! At wala kang kailangan bayaran."
I smirked, disagreeing. "Water and food will be enough. I'll pay."
He grins. "My pleasure,"
Eyes that do not glance long.
But eyes that do harm.
