Chapter 1

Bree never understood why humans went to school so early. The same reason she never understood why she went to school at all. Its not like its important. She didn't need to learn, she'd have eternity for that. Humans only have a century at best, maybe a decade more if they ate their vegetables, but her father forced her to go. Something about that teenage experience. Carlisle always was weird.

She ran downstairs as soon as she was dressed to meet her brother, Riley. Riley was a total smartass. He got good grades, never got into a fight, and is just an overall gold star student. Oh and let's not forget he's attractive. All the ladies at Forks High School have heart attacks when he passes. What a bunch of floozies.

Carlisle and Esme adore him because he's soooo smart and sooo responsible. Their always saying, "Bree, you should be more like your brother. He's smarter more responsible and maybe we would love you more if you were like him." We'll they didn't exactly say that, but you get the picture.

Me and my brother are actually part human. Our mother was a human and our father was a vampire. Boy meets girl, girl gets knocked up, and girl gives children away to vampire strangers. Apparently, the Cullen family is very popular amoung the vampires. So popular our mom dropped us off at their door step, days after we were born. Carlisle and Esme took us in as their children and we all lived happily ever after. Right, right. No.

I was always the troubled one. Getting into fights at school, cursing at the teacher, throwing temper tantrums, yeah. I was THAT kid. I guess you can say I have boundary issues. I know why your thinking: Why hasn't she been kicked out of school yet? Well that's a great question. It seem my quote on quote 'father' is very respected around this town, my 'mother' as well. And being rich does have it's benefits.

"Pancakes?" Esme offered as I ran downstairs.

"No thanks. Me and Riley are gonna be late." I answered.

"Well, have fun and don't get into any trouble!" She called as I walked out the door.

"You know me. I play well with others." I murmured and I knew she could hear me. She just didn't say a word. Vampires, am I right?
