Chapter 12

I arrived at Bree's home minutes later. Her house was huge, almost completely made of glass. I could see her in her bedroom in one of the upstair windows. She looked out her window and saw me. Her eyes widened. She made a motion with her hand to move back. Move back? Move back where? My eyes asked. Just back, hers said. I moved deeper into the woods and waited for her.

She met me a few minutes later. Her eyes looked intense and I remembered the feeling I got when I imprinted on her.

"Hi" I said. She grabbed my shoulder and pushed me back. "Hey. Watch it." Farther and farther into the woods she kept pushing me. Man, was she strong. She pushed me against a tree, hard.

"What are you doing here?" Her face was inches away from mine.

"I have to tell you something." She put her finger to my chest and moved closer.

"Well I have to tell you something. You pulled me away from that girl. After I hit her."

"So?"

"So, I fought you. You were stronger than me. How?"

"We'll it's basic science that boys are stronger than girls."

"See, I'm not buying that. What are you? A vampire? You can't be you don't smell like one."

"I'm a werewolf." Her eyes narrowed. "And that's not why I'm here Bree. I have to tell you something. About us."

"Now what could you possibly know about me?" She lifted an eyebrow. She was cute when she was mad.

"I know your a vampire." She slammed my shoulder against the tree, putting a dent in it. She moved closer to my face. She looked at me angrily.

I grabbed her face in my hands and kissed her right on the lips. She was surprised, but didn't pulled back right away. Her lips were soft and warm. I could hear her breath as we kissed. It was slow, it was passionate. I felt the electricity pass through us. And then I pulled away and held her in my arms. "I know that I really like you." I said. She looked me directly in the eye, and smacked me across the face. Damn she had a arm.

"What the hell?!" She said. "You can't just kiss someone randomly."

"I didn't see you pulling away." I challenged. She glared at me. "But it was nice."

"Yes it was." She said, although she didn't mean to. I grabbed her hand.

"Did you feel that? That electricity? What happened when we kissed? And when you looked at me earlier today."

"Yeah I felt it. I thought I was the only one. What about it."

"Well, in the werewolf world, there's this thing called imprinting." I looked at her face. She seemed calm. I played with the button on my shirt. "And today, when we were at school and you looked at me, I imprinted on you." I looked up at her again. She seemed confused.

"What does imprinting mean?"

"It's like when you find your soulmate, the person your supposed to be with forever. You just look at them and you know. It happens to all werewolves. When they find the one." I looked up at her again. Her face was a mix between surprised, anger and something else.

"So what your trying to tell me is.. I'm your soulmate."

"Yeah pretty much." She laughed without humor.

"See I don't know what kind of bullshit game your playing, but it's not working." She started to walk away.

"Bree wait! It's not like that. When we kissed, I felt that spark go through us, the same when you looked at me. And I know this sounds crazy, but in a world full of vampires and werewolves, it's actually pretty sane. We were meant to be together. I can see that now." Bree stopped. She turned around at my desperate face. She listened to my heartbeat and could tell I wasn't lying. But she didn't want to believe it.

"Don't you get it? I don't wanna be anyone's soulmate. Especially, if I didn't choose it. If I'm gonna fall for someone, it's gonna be because I care about them. Not because get have some type of wolfy claim on me. I don't want that. I'm sorry, but I don't want that life." She walked away.

This time for good.
