Chapter 2

Seth never imagined leaving home. Or at least the Quileut Reservation. He had spent his whole life here, grown up here. Gone shopping with his mom here, gone to middle school here. And buried his dad here. His dad. He passed away last year in a hunting accident. A bear attack. A memory flashed in his mind.

He had been in his room sleeping all day, rain patted down his window and the sky was a dead carcas, as if

the world was full of sorrow. Seth could feel it as he looked out the window, he just didn't know why. It was his usual routine. Walk downstairs, eat breakfast and then watch Friends reruns. A normal Saturday. Except, when he came downstairs, he didn't get pancakes shaped like misshaped animals or his bacon and eggs arranged in a smile. He got whispers from the police and his moms broken heart.

"Why?" He asked his mom. She didn't know. She crashed to the ground with a thump and cradled there for days.

It was the same question he asked when she had told him that he would be going to school with the pale faces at Forks High School.

"Because you need a new start, you and your sister, after your father's passing. It'll be great for you." Seth just nodded and stayed silent. He knew better than to argue with his mom, especially after what she had gone through. So instead he put his notebooks in his bag, grabbed an apple, and went in the car, so that he could take a ride on the highway to hell. And a long ride it was.
