Chapter 28

Leah Clearwater walked toward Forks High with too much ambition. She knew the perfect way to break up her brother and Bree. After Sam broke up with her, and began dating her cousin, she realized that she felt a certain way. She felt jealous. And as she remembered that, she thought that the only way to make Bree hate him, was for him to make her jealous. It was great timing too, apparently they had gotten into a fight the night before at the diner. Now, all she needed was a girl for Bree to be jealous of.

Leah scoured the courtyard, looking for a girl pretty enough or skanky enough to make his girlfriend jealous. She came across a petite girl with brown hair and a short skirt. Leah recognized her as the one that Bree had gotten into a fight with at the beginning of the year. Perfect. She walked over to her, developing a story, and tapped on her shoulder.

The small girl turned around and looked confused.

"Umm hello?"

"Hi, my name is Leah. I'm Seth Clearwater's sister."

"Oh. Well, ok. I'm Missy."

"Oh your the Missy my Seth keeps talking about? That's great."

"Huh?"

"Seth. He's always talking about how pretty your are and smart. He's been trying to ask you out for the longest."

"Seth has a girlfriend."

"That he hates. He's only dating her to make you jealous."

"Really?" Her face lit up,

"Yeah. He totally likes you."

"Wow. He is kinda cute, but how do I get him to ask me out?"

"You can't. That 'girlfriend' of is is awfully controlling and won't let him anywhere near you. That's why you've got to make the first move."

"The first move?"

"Yeah. You've just got to walk up to him and ask him. I guarantee you, he'll say yes."

"Well, ok. Thanks."

"No problem doll. See you later." Leah walked away with a smirk on her face. This was too perfect. She watched from behind as the girl attempted to ask him to the bowling alley. He said he needed to think about it, but she watched Bree's face twist into jealousy. She stomped over toward him accusing him of talking and flirting with her. This ought to be good, she thought. She watched as he agreed to the bowling alley and he stomped away. She knew her brother all too well. Leah picked up her phone and called Carlisle.

"Leah? Are you crazy? What if my family was home?"

"But their not, are they?"

"No, but still.."

"Whatever. Let your daughter out f the house tonight."

"What? Why? She's grounded."

"Because I have a plan to break her away from Seth. Isn't that what you want?"

"Yes, but she seems happier."

"Don't go soft on me Carlisle. This is going to happen, just let her out."

"Fine, ok."

"Good." Leah hung up the phone and waited by the bowling alley.

She saw Seth hang out with that Missy girl. She kept yanking up her skirt, man what a slut. She saw Bree with her sister staring at him. This plan was perfect, all they had to do was fight and it was over, but then something unexpected happened. The girl kissed Seth on the lips! And the outrage on Bree's face! Ha! Leah wanted to laugh. It was definitely over now. There was no way she would forgive him. Leah watched her leave with tears in her eyes and laughed out loud. Too good, too perfect of a plan. She went home to celebrate. She could hardly believe her luck.

Three hours later, she received a phone call from Carlisle.

"What did you do?" He asked.

"Isn't it obvious? I broke the little rascals."

"My daughter is crying her eyes out. I wanted them to break up, but I did t want her heart broken."

"It'll heal Carlisle. She'll move on soon enough."

"You mean just like you after Sam dumped you?" Leah froze. Why that ugly vampire.

"Yes, just like me. I got over it and I don't dwell on things. She's strong, she can handle it."

"I don't think so Leah. I think she's never gonna get over him. She's been in her room for hours, she threw things around, she cursed, repeatedly."

"Most teenagers do."

"That's not the point. The point is.. She's broken." He paused. "I wanna call off out deal." What?!

"What?!"

"You heard me. My daughter is hurt, and I never wanted her to feel that way. Goodbye Leah." She listened to the dial tone after he hung up. She could believe, of all the rotten luck! Oh well, at least they've broken up and my work is done. Leah ran outside to the woods and changed. Only to hear her brothers cries. He was in pain, and it was all her fault. 'Leave me alone' was all she heard from his mind. She changed back, masking her pain and waited for him at the door. His expression was, he had no expression. He pushed past me and ran into his room.

"Seth.." I called out. He didn't listen. He slammed the door. The last thing Leah wanted to do was admit she was wrong.
