Chapter 29

Bree had overheard everything from downstairs. Her father was to blame. How could he? How could he put me through this? And he actually planned this with Leah Clearwater. I'm ashamed. I picked myself off Emmett's chest and ran downstairs to the kitchen.

"Is that true? Did you do this to me?" I wiped the years from my face, it was game time.

"Bree, you have to understand, I only wanted what was best for you, and that dog wasn't."

"Don't call him that. His name is Seth, not dog." He looked surprised at my defiance, as if I hadn't been doing it my whole life.

"Bree, we didn't want to spark the possibility of reproduction and intercourse from his imprinting on you." Esme said. Too late. Them she remembered Edward was there too, he could read her thoughts, but she didn't care anymore.

"It's a little late for that Esme."

"What? Why would you say that?"

"Because she already slept with him." Edward said. Another silence, as if this house didn't have enough. Esme gasped. All eyes were on me now.

"Bree, tell me he's lying."

"You already know he's not." She turned to me, her face disgusted. I almost laughed at her expression. She noticed that and smacked me across the face. I crashed to the floor with a thump. Ow.

"How could you do that? How could you do that to this family?" This family? This family?! I got up and looked her right in the eye.

"I don't see how my life has anything to do with anyone else in this room. I'm 17, I can make my own choices."

"That could lead to bad decisions."

"Like what?"

"Like not using protection." Bree froze and thought back. Esme noticed her hesitance. Oh no.

"You didn't use protection?!"

"I wasn't planning on doing it until it happened. I hadn't exactly prepared." She looked like she wanted to smack me again, but restrained herself.

"You could be pregnant, did you think about that?"

"No, I hadn't really thought about anything much when it happened."

"When did this happen?" I looked at Renesmee.

"When was the day we went to the beach?"

"Like two weeks ago." She responded. I turned back to Esme.

"Oh, then like two weeks ago."

"And where were we?"

"Now that I think about it, that was actually the day you guys were looking for us and Jacob imprinted on Renesmee." She raised her hand to hit me again, but this time I saw it coming. I grabbed her arm and said, "Don't you dare lay a hand on me." She growled. It was time for me to leave.

"Renesmee, lets go." She got up, then her father pulled her back.

"Absolutely not." He said.

"Where are we going?" She asked, ignoring her father.

"To Jacob's house." She brightened.

"Ok then." She was following me out the door.

"Renesmee Carlie Cullen. Don't you dare take one step out that door." Her father said. She stopped and turned around to him.

"Make me." She said and charged out the door, leaving her mother and faster with their mouths hanging open. I was so proud of her.

"Are we taking your car or mine?" She asked calmly.
