Change and Tony

As the meal carried on you all made lighthearted conversation and reminisced fond memories.
Steve told you about living at the compound in New York and what the team was like, you could tell most of them were good people but something about Tony Stark always rubbed you the wrong way.
Growing up your parents would bring him up and praise him about good and bad things, before leaving for weeks on end more focused on their jobs then your well being growing up.

"You should both know that the United Nations wants to move Bucky to New York under the supervision of the Avengers." Steve told you both looking guilty.
"Can she come with us? I can't leave her. I love her too much." Bucky gestured to you in slight panic at the thought of leaving you behind in Romania.
"I don't think it would be an issue. I'd have to check with Tony since he owns the compound." Steve explained.
"That's okay Steve, I have to deal with the Cafe before we leave, mostly checking on the manager and switching things online instead of just paper documents." You chipped in to calm both super soldiers down.
"I'll make the call now just so we can get it cleared." Steve said while stepping outside to the fenced in backyard.
"I hope you're cleared to come with us, doll. I couldn't do this without you." Bucly said while making his way over to you to hug your waist and setting his chin on the crown of your head.

Meanwhile outside with Steve.
"Hey Tony, we have one more person joining us back at the compound." Steve told Tony not really giving an option to say no to you coming along.
"What do you mean Rogers? Who's coming with you?" Tony spoke in a short tone seemingly frustrated having no say in what was happening.
"A lovely lady named Y/N L/N will be joining us." Steve gave a short answer knowing Tony had just found out who had killed his parents.
"What does she have to do with any of this?" Tony said, demanding more answers from Steve.
"She's Bucky's girl. I don't want to separate them." Steve sighed, finally giving in to Tony's demands.
"She's in a relationship with that monster?! He killed my parents without a second thought! How do we know she's not like him as well? " Tony yelled in anger.
"Tony Bucky isn't a bad man that was the work of Hydra and their torture. You need to understand that Bucky and the Winter Soldier are two different people." Steve said with a calm tone not wanting to escalate the one sided argument.
"I'll be running a background check before giving an answer about her. I don't trust either of them." Tony grumbled in defeat.
"Thank you Tony it means a lot." Steve said light heartedly.
"Yeah, whatever." Tony said before hanging up the phone.

Steve made his way back inside and saw you and Bucky on the couch holding each other and whispering to each other and laughing.
It had been a long time since he saw Bucky be this happy. Steve smiled at the thought of Bucky finding his other half.
Clearing his throat as he came into the room to update you on his conversation with Tony.
"Hey. so, Tony said he'll run a background check before giving an answer but knowing him he most likely already ran it while I was on the phone with him and is taking his time for theatrics."
"That's smart on his end. He's probably upset about what James has done while he had no control of himself." You thought logically while nodding your head in understanding.
"I really hope he'll let you come. I can't go without you." Bucky pulled you closer to him, almost fully pulling you on his lap.
"I don't see why he wouldn't let her she's a lawyer and business owner. She's got a clean record, as far as I know." Steve cut in before Bucky could sulk in sadness at the thought of leaving.
"Thanks Ste-" you were cut off by Steve's phone ringing.

"Yes Tony?" Steve asked.
"Why didn't you tell me that she was the daughter of Andrew L/N and Alice L/N!!!!" Tony screamed into the phone with excitement causing Steve to pull the phone away from his ear and making a pained face.
"I have no idea who those people are, Tony." Steve told him honestly.
"You're joking, tell me you're joking Roger's! They are world renowned lawyers." Tony shouted in excitement.
"Tony, you know I don't know much about that." Steve said wanting to get away from the conversation.
"Okay, Okay she can come, we'll establish some rules when they get here. So get here ASAP Cap!" Tony said full of glee for meeting the daughter of his favorite lawyers before cutting the line.

"Well Y/N and Bucky you aren't getting separated." Steve said looking at the couple whose both eyes lit up like a child on christmas morning.
"Oh, Doll we won't have to be apart." Bucky kissed your lips and had the brightest smile.
"I'm so glad Tony let me come along. I could never leave you James. You're my other half." You hummed out as you felt the burn of his facial hair on your skin.
"It's getting late, doll. We should probably start heading to bed. We have an early morning." Bucky kissed your temple and helped you on your feet.
"Let me show Steve the guest room real quick and you go put the Hot Cocoa mugs away. Come along Steve." You said after getting steady on your legs and gestured to Steve to follow you upstairs to the guest room.
"I got it all covered, Doll." Bucky said while placing his hands on his knees and pushing to stand up from the couch.

"Thank you for letting me stay here. I would've gladly taken the couch." Steve said as you opened the door to the room so he could enter.
"Nonsense, you're a guest in our home. If you want to shower there's toiletries in the cabinet below the sink." you told him pointing towards the bathroom door in the room.
"I may take you up on that offer." Steve said with a slight laugh.
"I'll leave you to it. Oh! Do you need something to wear to bed?" You completely forgot to ask.
"Oh you don't have to, I'm okay sleeping in the suit." Steve tried to reason with you.
"No sir. I'll grab one of James Pj pants. It's no sweat at all. You also need to be comfortable." You said leaving to get the pants before Steve could say another word.

While walking to your shared room you heard Steve laugh.

Making your way into your closet and going through Bucky's PJ drawer to find a pair of pants for Steve to wear. Towards the bottom you found a pair of red and white plaid sleeping pants and a whtie tee. You grabbed them and made your way out of your back to the guest room and knocked on the door gently.
"Hey Steve, I have some PJ's for you." you said while knocking.
"Come on in." Steve said from behind the door.
" I come baring pants and a shirt for you, your majesty." you said dramatically and bowed.
"What on earth are you doing?" Steve teared up from laughter.
"Trust me she does it a lot." Bucky said suddenly while leaning on the door frame with a small smile on his face.
"Does she really?" Steve questioned with an eyebrow raised.
"She does. When we met she went down a list of properties in plums and cocoa, that was the day I knew I was falling in love with her." Bucky said, reminiscing about your past together.
"I remember that like it was just yesterday.You were so shy James, still are but you've come out of your shell.It's getting late gentlemen so we should all head to bed soon." You smiled at him proudly for all that he's accomplished.
"Quick question before we head to bed.How long have you two known each other?" Steve asked curiously.
"Two almost three years ago on well February 29th but we celebrate on the 28th." You told him.
"That neat that you met on a leap year." Steve said, amazed.
"We were pretty lucky." Bucky smiled towards you with a boyish grin.
"Well Gentleman, it's time to call it a night. Good night Steve." You called over your shoulder making your way to Bucky who wrapped his arm around your waist and led you to your room after closing the door to the room.

You and James got into bed and brought your bodies impossibly close together.
"I love you James. I'm so glad you're safe in my arms again." you said before pushing your body up and kissing his lips gently.
"I love you too Y/N. I'm just glad everything worked out in the end." He kissed you one again before murmuring a good night and pulling you in again while closing his eyes.
