The sun shone brightly in the afternoon sky, as Draco stood outside his family home, trying to get the courage to go inside. He was a grown man, but coming back here always made him feel like that scared child he had once been and he hated it. He hated how no matter how much he changed or grown, just being back here was enough to take it all away, like none of it had happened. The manor had been his house his entire life, but it had never felt like home, it held secrets within its walls and he avoided coming back whenever he could. He only came back to see his beloved mother, if it wasn't for her then he'd never step foot in the wretched place again and forget that part of him existed. He stopped pacing and took a deep breath fixing his clothes, before he went inside. At least since the war ended, his mother had spent her time fixing the manor up, returning color and warmth to it. As he walked through the downstairs, he had a smile on his face at the many improvements his mother had done, he walked into the large living room and found her. He stood in the doorway, leaning against the doorframe, his arms crossed and a smile on his face, as he silently watched her. She was sitting by herself, like usual, on one of the large couches, reading one of her favorite books, he had gotten his love of literature from her. Thankfully, his father was nowhere around, probably hiding away in his study like he usually did.

"Dragon, what a pleasant surprise, my sweet boy." Narcissa greeted him happily, as she put her book down and stood to hug him.

"Hello, mother." He greeted her smiling, as they hugged.

"You're looking well, I didn't know you were coming, is Harry with you?" She asked smiling, as they sat together on the couch, she held his hand.

"No, he's at home, but he sends his love." Draco said smiling.

"Alright, love, what's bothering you?" Narcissa asked.

"Why do you think something's bothering me?"

"Dragon, I'm your mother, I know you better than you know yourself." She said smiling, as she placed a hand on his cheek. "Now, tell me, does it have to do with Harry?"

 "Partly." Draco replied sighing.

"Dragon, you can tell me." She encouraged gently.

"Well, you know that Ron and Hermione have had their baby, a beautiful, little girl they named Rose."

"Of course, darling, I spoke to Molly the day she was born and I've met the little Angel a few times." Narcissa said smiling.

"Two weeks ago, Harry told me that he..." Draco began, but trailed off sighing.

"He doesn't want a divorce, does he?" Narcissa asked concerned.

"No, of course not, mother." Draco said annoyed. "Really, mother?"

"Well, you're not really giving me a lot to go on, sweetheart." Narcissa replied sighing. "If he doesn't want a divorce, what else could possibly be so horrible?"

"He...he wants a child." Draco said sighing too.

"I see." Narcissa said softly, as she patted his hand. "Now, I understand."

 "Y-you do?" Draco asked confused.

 "Of course, dear."

 "How?"

"I'm your mother and I know why that scares you so much, but, darling, it shouldn't."

"How can you say that, mother? I didn't exactly have the greatest fatherly role model in my life, did I?." Draco said frustrated.

"Dragon, your father may have failed you, but you did have someone who cared about you and taught you life lessons." Narcissa reminded him.

"Severus." Draco said quietly, smiling sadly at the memory of his snarky, strict, no-nonsense godfather. "I miss him terribly, every day." He added softly, looking at the floor.
