Broken Pt2

The clouds had been heavy and brooding all day, threatening to release their fury at any moment. As night fell, the first raindrops began to fall, creating a soothing rhythm against the windows of Draco's dorm room. He sat on the windowsill, gazing out at the storm as it raged outside. The thunder rattled the room and flashes of lightning momentarily illuminated the darkness and casting shadows on Draco's face. With a heavy heart, he rested his head against the cool stone wall and let out a deep sigh feeling a sense of emptiness inside. It had been exactly one month since his world came crashing down. Since he discovered that his now ex-boyfriend, Harry, had been cheating on him with a Gryffindor boy named Connor, who was a year younger than them and the pain still lingered like a sharp dagger in his chest.

He should have known this would happen, he should have known that he didn't deserve happiness... not after everything that he had done to help Voldemort in the war. He had never felt this kind of hurt and betrayal before and it felt like it was never-ending. He knew he never should have come back to Hogwarts, never should have tried to be happy. His only saving grace was his best mates, Blaise, Pansy, Ron and Hermione, despite still being best mates with Harry too, none of them had abandoned Draco.

Knowing he'd never get Harry back, Draco refused to show the cheating prat how much he had hurt Draco and he acted like he was fine, he was the master at hiding his emotions after all. He wasn't fine though and knew he wouldn't be ever again. Every time he saw Harry with Connor, it was like ripping off a scab and reopening the same wound that never seemed to heal. He was tired, so damn tired, of having a taste of happiness, only to have it ripped cruelly away from him, leaving him desperately longing for more.

A Week Later:

Draco was walking down the hallway on his way to the library to work on his assignments, when he was bumped into by someone, knocking the books and parchment that he was carrying onto the floor.

 "Brilliant." Draco said sighing.

"I'm so sorry, Draco, I didn't see you. Here, let me help you pick your things up." A familiar male voice spoke, Draco looked up from the floor and recognized him as Zander Brooks, a kind, quiet Ravenclaw the same age as him. "Here you go, I'm so sorry again, I guess I shouldn't read and walk at the same time, I don't seem to be good at it."

"It's alright really, no harm done." Draco replied smiling.

"Are you on... on your way to the library?" Zander asked smiling shyly.

"Uh, yeah, I was going to work on some homework." Draco replied unsure why Zander was looking at him like he was.

"It is the best place to study in the castle." Zander said still smiling.

"Right, well, I have a lot of work to do so I'll see you around, Zander." Draco said as he began walking away.

"Draco, wait!" Zander called out, stopping him.

 "Yeah?"

"Would... would you maybe like to go to Hogsmeade? No, wait, that isn't right... with me? Hang on, that doesn't sound right either. I... I can do this, okay. Draco, would you like to go to Hogsmeade sometime with me and get a butterbeer?" Zander asked nervously, relieved that he had finally managed to get it out without embarrassing himself too much.

"You... you want to go with me?" Draco asked shocked, he wasn't used to anyone except Harry being interested in him romantically.

"Yeah, I... I know you just broke up with that tosser, Potter, but I'd really like to take you out sometime." Zander replied shyly.
