Draco Malfoy's heart pounded loudly and painfully in his chest, as he walked through the silent, yet familiar hallways and rooms of his childhood home. He couldn't remember how he had gotten here or why he was even there, but as he walked around the large manor, he realized that the house looked exactly like it had when he was a teenager. It was no longer the bright, warm, and welcoming home that his mother had made it into after his father had been sent to Azkaban, now it was back to being dark, cold, and oppressive. Seeing it like this again after so many years, terrified him deeply to his core, and with each step, he took his fear only grew. He wasn't sure what he was scared of or expecting to find here, but it was like his body knew even though his mind didn't, it felt like his lungs had shrunk, it was hard to breathe. He fought his panic as he tried to remind himself that none of this was real, it was just another nightmare, but it didn't help calm him down. This felt too real to be a dream, dammit, everything smelt like it did back then, everything he touched felt like it did, and every sound and sight were just like they were back then. How was that possible in a dream?

Suddenly, he heard a noise come from somewhere upstairs; he quickly looked at the ceiling, as if he could see through it. Despite his trepidation, Draco slowly made his way to the large staircase that would take him upstairs. He stood at the bottom and looked up into the darkness, every part of him was screaming for him to run, run away from there as fast as he could and not look back, but unfortunately, he couldn't do it. Hearing the noise again, he wished that he had brought his wand with him, for some daft reason he hadn't, which was completely out of character for him, he never went anywhere without it. The noise sounded again and suddenly, his arm began to hurt, it felt like it was being burnt, grabbing it, wincing from the pain, he realized that it was the same damn arm that held the Dark Mark. Terrified, he looked at it, and with trembling fingers, he slowly pulled back his sleeve and had to grab the wall beside him to keep himself from falling. There on his arm was the Dark Mark, no longer faded, but back to the way it was when it had been first forced upon him.

He put his back against the wall to steady himself, he couldn't take his eyes off of the mark, no, no, no, this...this couldn't be happening! His heart and breathing raced, what the hell was happening to him? Needing to know, he decided to go upstairs and find out what was making the noise, maybe by doing that he'd find all the answers he needed. He slowly got off of the wall and began to climb the stairs, reaching the top, he looked around, but didn't see anything. He began walking, letting his feet lead him, until he reached his old room, standing outside the closed door, his arm began to burn worse than before. He held it close to him, as he slowly opened the door to the empty room. Confused, he cautiously went inside, stopping in the middle of the room, his back to the door. Seconds later, he heard a noise from behind him, he quickly turned around and saw the one man he thought he'd never see again standing behind him smiling evilly.

"Welcome home, Draco." Voldemort said, as he touched Draco's forehead with a cold finger.

Draco's eyes shot open, as he sat up in bed, biting his lip hard enough to draw blood, stopping the scream that threatened to escape, just as thunder tore through the night sky. He quickly looked at his arm and thankfully, saw that the mark was still faded, almost undetectable if you didn't know it was there. He ran his shaky hands over his sweaty face, trying to calm down, as he did he felt his husband of eight years, Harry Potter-Malfoy, stir in his sleep beside him, before he sat up too, and concerned he spoke.

"Dray, are you okay, love?"

"Yeah, Har, I'm fine." Draco answered, hoping that his voice didn't betray him.

"You're shaking." Harry pointed out concerned, as he quickly put his glasses on and looked back at his husband. "Dray, what happened?"

"I'm fine, I...I just had a nightmare." Draco replied, already feeling better now that Harry was with him.
