The air had turned colder, as Autumn, gave way to Winter, Draco Malfoy hated the cold, but he had a job to do, unfortunately. He pulled his jacket tighter around himself and pulled his hat even further onto his head. He sighed impatiently, as he sat on a bench and wished that he had gone into Healing as a job after the war, instead of joining the blasted Ministry as an Auror.
It had taken a lot of hard work, self-reflection, and humility to get where he was now five years after the war. He had made amends with people he had hurt, apologizing and was grateful to be forgiven; especially, by Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and all of their friends. Of course, just because he had made amends and they were all civil with him, it didn't mean that they were all friends, they just weren't enemies anymore. That was a good thing considering that he had been made partners with Potter. He had spent many nights after work complaining to his two closest, childhood friends...hell, his only friends, Pansy Parkinson and Blaise Zabini about his wretched luck being partners with Saint Potter. No one could deny, not even himself, that the two worked well together and they were able to do their job with very little arguing.
Right now, they were on a case, they were following a supposed dark Wizard, but after tailing the man for an entire week, they had no proof that he was evil. While Draco watched their suspect, Harry had gone into the Three Broomsticks to get them some hot chocolate to help warm them up.
"Here." Harry's voice spoke breaking into his thoughts, as he returned and held out one of the cups to Draco.
"Thanks." Draco replied taking it.
"So, did I miss anything?"
"Oh, yeah, he killed three Witches and kidnapped a couple of kids." Draco replied sarcastically, Harry used it by now just rolled his eyes. "Seriously, Potter, you were gone 10 minutes."
"Okay, I get it, you know a simple no would have worked." Harry said sighing.
"Let's just concentrate on our job, the sooner we solve it, the sooner we can get out of this blasted cold air."
A couple of hours later, Draco's torture ended when they finally witnessed their suspect attempt to sell some dark, magical artifacts. They managed to arrest him after a brief wand fight with no injuries. As they were getting ready to go back to the Ministry, Harry wanted to stop for another hot chocolate first. Draco waited outside and a few minutes later, Harry returned and smiling handed him another cup. Before he could thank him, he was accidentally pushed into Harry from behind by some kids running by. Thankfully, Harry managed to keep them from falling over, but before Draco could recover, someone accidentally bumped into Harry, causing them to back up into the wall. Draco was still in Harry's arms, so his back ended up against the wall, with Harry pressed up against him in the front.
"You okay, partner?" Harry asked smiling, their faces inches apart.
"I'm fine, you can let me go now, Potter." Draco said annoyed, as he tried to push Harry off of him. "Why aren't you letting me go?" He demanded.
"I would, but your fancy, expensive coat is caught on my poor, handmade scarf, we're stuck together." Harry teased smiling. "Don't move while I get us unstuck."
A few seconds later, they were finally free and they fixed themselves up, before they headed back to the Ministry to finish up with their case.
**The Next Day**:
Draco woke up and went downstairs to the kitchen after he had showered, gotten dressed, and made his bed. Thankfully, they didn't have to go on any stakeouts today, so he was very happy about that. His happiness didn't last long though, as he heard the floo in his living room activate, and seconds later, he heard Pansy call out to him.
