Chapter Two.

Calum and the boys had just finished another concert. They were in London, England at the moment. Normally Calum felt slightly better after concerts, but not tonight. Tonight wasn't a good night for Calum. He kept seeing couples everywhere. Holding hands; hugging; kissing. He had that once.

Calum always promised himself that he'd never let his career interfere with his love life, no matter what he did as a job. He never thought he'd be in a band travelling the world though - he thought that was just a dream. But when that dream became a reality, he ended up breaking that promise; not only to himself, but to Eleanor.

He tried to act happier on stage, and for a while it worked, he would temporarily forget his problems. That was until they started performing Long Way Home. That was the song that he had written with Eleanor; it was about their relationship. Of course, he'd rather not have to perform that song, but they had confirmed the set list a few weeks before he ended their relationship.

At the time, it seemed like the right thing to do. It wasn't fair for Eleanor to be constantly wondering when he was going to call or if any of the rumours the media spread about him were true. Was he cheating with the mysterious blonde at the club or were magazines just trying to find a story to sell? He thought she would be better off with someone who didn't travel for their job. But now that he was here, performing to thousands of screaming girls, pretty much every night, he wished he had at least given it a try.

"Calum, we're going to the club. Are you coming?" Ashton asked, catching up with Calum. The boys didn't have a concert tomorrow, which meant they could get as drunk as they wanted but to Calum, it meant not having to go out and face people.

"No, not tonight" Calum hoped no more would be said of the subject but to his disappointment, it wasn't.

"Come on, it'll be fun!" Michael whined. Michael, Ashton and Luke were all determined to get their best friend to go out with them and get back to normal. Before Calum could even try to protest, all three of the boys were in front of him begging, on their knees. Normally, Calum would have laughed at how stupid they looked but he wasn't in the mood for that today; he never seemed to be anymore. In fact, right now, there was nothing more appealing to him than curling up under the covers in his hotel room and watching Netflix on his laptop all evening.

"Fine" he eventually gave in. Only because if he went out once, the boys would hopefully stop asking him to. The three boys cheered before running off to get changed to go out. Calum sighed, realising that he really should leave his hotel more other than when he was playing concerts.

The boys arrived at the club and immediately headed to the bar to buy a round of drinks. While Ashton, Michael and Luke left to get drink themselves out of their minds, Calum stayed at the bar with his beer. He looked around the room, to see couples completely out of it, dancing and pressing against each other. Calum screwed his nose up, not liking what he saw, before turning his attention to the beer glass in front of him.

"Girl trouble?" Calum looked up to see that a young brunette had join him at the bar. Calum nodded his head but the action was so subtle the girl only just saw it. He turned his attention back to his drink and started stirring it with his middle finger. The girl stayed silent for a while, just staring at him - taking in his features. "Want some help forgetting her?" Calum knew exactly what she meant by that. That was one of the main reasons why he didn't want to come to a club tonight; or any night. Calum didn't want to forget about Eleanor. Heck, he probably wouldn't be able to even if he tried.

Eleanor wasn't Calum's first love, he'd only been in love once before, but he wanted her to be his last. Calum hadn't felt this way about any of his previous girlfriends but he knew for a fact he wouldn't feel this way for anyone else. He was completely head over heels in love with her. He still didn't know why he had decided to end things with her, even though at the time it seemed like the only logical thing to do.

"No thanks" he spoke, screwing his nose up again. He honestly just wanted to get out of this place.

"Okay, well I'll be right over there if you change your mind" She pointed to the dance floor but Calum wasn't paying attention to her. Calum took one final sip of his drink, before scraping back the stool he had been sitting on and left the club without letting the boys know first.
