Chapter Three.

It had been two months, now that Calum and Eleanor had broken up. Adriana was currently in the process of trying to persuade Eleanor to let her set her up on a blind date. Eleanor absolutely despised of the idea, but they both knew that if she didn't try dating again soon she'd probably be hung up on Calum forever. Eleanor reluctantly agreed and Ade already had the perfect guy in mind. Adriana left the room to make a phone call and Eleanor was already regretting agreeing to this. It was way too soon. It had only been two months; she was nowhere near ready to start meeting boys again.

"Done! You have a date tomorrow!" Adriana clapped, walking back into the room. Eleanor's eyes widened. This was definitely a bad idea; she had to get out of this.

"Tomorrow? No, that's no... I ca-" she tried to protest, but Adriana cut her off by raising her eyebrows and shaking her head. Eleanor huffed before slumping back onto the sofa.

"Right, I'll be back tomorrow at eleven to help you get ready. No excuses, okay?" Eleanor blankly stared at Ade as she spoke. "You'll thank me for this one day!" Ade laughed as she left the house.

Adriana returned to Eleanor's house at eleven on the dot, just as she had promised. Eleanor had considered pretending to be sick, but she knew Ade wouldn't buy it. She was told that the guy she was going on a date with was called Aaron and he worked in a little cafe down the road. He was an old family friend of Adriana's. She had been informed that he was one of the nicest people Adriana had met but Eleanor couldn't care less. Eleanor didn't care if it was a young Leonardo DiCaprio; she just wanted to see Calum again. But that wasn't going to happen, not yet – at least for another five months. Eleanor's head dropped at the thought of him.

"Stop thinking about him!" Adriana warned, causing a sheepish look to spread across Eleanor's face.

The date had gone well. Too well, in fact. Eleanor hated the fact that it had gone so well. They had gone to a small Italian restaurant, which was quiet but still had an enjoyable atmosphere. They spoke for a few hours - and to Eleanor's surprise there were no awkward silences or forced conversation. Aaron was no Calum – and she knew this because she was basically comparing the two the whole night - but she agreed to go on a second date with him, anyway. It was probably for the best, there was no way Calum would want to get back together. He was on the go all the time, living his dream, that was the whole reason he wanted to break up in the first place.

Aaron had dropped her off back home at about nine in the evening. She said goodbye to him before entering her house and finding her mum in the kitchen. She sat down at the breakfast bar, next to her mum, and rested her head on the table.

"How'd it go?" her mum asked, walking in behind her with a cup of tea. She didn't want to admit that it had gone well, but Eleanor was an awful liar so really it was her only choice.

"Yeah, it went well" she sighed.

"But he's no Calum?" Her mother knew exactly what was going on inside her head. She could read Eleanor like an open book. Eleanor shook her head before lifting her head off the table. She sighed before speaking again.

"Don't you think it's a bit early? You know, for me to start dating again?" she asked.

"Normally, yes it would be too early. But he broke up with you because of his career. And I know this is the last thing you want to hear, darling, but any guy that ends a relationship because of his career, the chances of him wanting to get back together are slim to none" Eleanor's heart sank at her mum's words. She knew it was true; she just didn't want to believe it until she heard someone else say the words aloud. And now she had. Calum wasn't going to want to get back with Eleanor, not now that he'd already chosen his career over her.
