'Who are you?' sera questioned as they set sail.
'I am no one.' He told her.
'does no one have a name?' sera questioned.
'this man has the honor of being called Jaqen H'ghar.' He told her.
'Jaqen.' She repeated leaning back her hand skimming the water as they sailed. 'where are we going Jaqen?'
'the temple.'
'I don't really pray.' Sera informed him.
'it also goes by the house of black and white.' He told her. she nodded. She hadn't really read much on bravvos and the free cities because her father said she would never need go there. They were thieves and criminals and a bunch of no goods, not to be trusted. Yet here she was trusting them. well not entirely but she was leaving on a boat with this man that she knew nothing about besides the fact that he had killed everyone in her vicinity and said she was still useful...
Jaqen didn't say much, he rarely answered her but he was always watching her as they sailed. She stopped asking questions, thinking perhaps he was going to rape her and kill her at a temple perhaps or perhaps he was selling her, Gods she really was stupid. A highborn, a Lannister, they could fetch a pretty pouch of gold, diamonds, anything really, if her father decided her worth it that was.
'what are you thinking about?' Jaqen questioned and it took sera by surprise she turned to him thinking it must have been the wind but he asked again. "what are you thinking about?'
'my family.' She admitted he shook his head. That was the wrong answer apparently. 'you had family before this.' Sera noted. 'everyone does. Even if they are given up at birth. They had a mother and father, most have a brother of sister, even if you never met them, even if you don't remember their faces or know their names... is it so wrong to forget who you are...'
'who you were.' He corrected.
'I am still me.' sera informed him. 'you may not be you but I am still Seraphina Lannister.' She said confidently. 'if you are going to kill me, you might as well get it over with. My father wont spend his money on a ransom for me.' she spat.
'your pain and anger towards your family, not love?' Jaqen questioned.
'I'm not close with them. Tyrion, hes okay, we get along, but we are not close. The older two, they are right cunts.' Sera told him.
'you think I'm going to sell you or ransom you?' Jaqen questioned.
'why else keep me alive?' sera countered. 'to train me? to make me strong? I will be what I am now and always will be... weak. Defenseless and scared.' She told him. 'trapped by my past and my families name, my families problems. Trapped by the society thinking women are meant for nothing more than menial work, cleaning and marrying and popping out sons. That is the duty of a woman. She is not to have desires beyond that.'
'But you do.' He said it as a statement not a question. Like he knew.
'I want more. I don't know what I want. But I'm never going to get more, be MORE!' she exclaimed. 'so if you are planning on selling me think again! Ransom, ha! I'm not a son, I'm a too damn old unmarried daughter. He wont pay for me, he has other things on his mind.' Sera said miserably.
'how old is a girl?' Jaqen questioned.
'23. Ancient. I know.' Sera told him.
'I am taking you to the temple. The house of black and white.' Jaqen told her. 'you will not be sold or used as ransom for your father.' Jaqen told her simply. 'if you do as I say I will help you become no one.'
'I still don't understand what that means.' Sera pleaded getting closer but the boat rocked as they got closer to the shores.
'there.' he pointed in the distance. A temple stood large and daunting, in the middle of a vast sea of water.
'There?' she questioned. There was nowhere to run. There was in the middle of nothing. There was a temple of black and white. He docked the boat getting out he offered her hand. She grabbed onto his hand carefully stepping out. A black and white door stood before them. but sera didn't move. Jaqen put a hand on her back guiding her in. she dragged her feet thinking this was to be the end, he was going to be killed, raped, sacrificed, she gulped down the bile rising in her throat as she waited for someone to grab her and strip her, beat her, but no one came. She looked back at Jaqen a ghost of a smile on his lips as he watched her. slowly the fear left her as she looked around.
Maybe she would never be no one like Jaqen but maybe she could be someone else than a spoiled Lannister.
