Mermaids?

She lay out on the bed. It was small and her feet fell off the edge she wasnt given any blankets or pillows either. But perhaps he would teach her something, eventually. He seemed to trust her at least a little bit, like her, a little bit. Or else he wouldn't spend so much time with her. he kept a woman away from Sera after the incident. They spent meals together and although he didn't say much sera felt like she had a friend. Something she hadn't had in a long time. Living at the capital, being the Queens sister, everyone wanted to get in the queens good graces, so getting along, or pretending to like her outcast little sister wasn't on anyone mind. She pulled the ring from her hair. Putting it on her finger spinning it around in the moonlight coming through her window. She closed her eyes trying to picture her mother. She couldn't. perhaps one day in death if there was life after death she would see her mothers face and just know. She heard the door open and she quickly closed her eyes gripping the ring tightly in her fist.

'a girl is not a morning person because a girl spends the hours of the night awake.' Jaqen said calmly. Sera got up ring still fisted in her hand.

'a woman has much on her mind.' Sera told him.

'come.' He told her and she tucked the ring under the mattress following him out. He stepped outside into the night. Cautiously she followed him. He shed his shirt and sera noticed scars that littered his back, she wanted to trace every one of them but she stayed at a distance she watched him as he dove into the water. The water was soo black she couldn't see him once he was under. She looked for him to resurface but he didn't. her breath caught in her lungs as she squinted to see but it was too dark the water too black at night. Then se heard a breath and she turned his face dripping as he sucked in a deep breath.

'you scared me!' sera shouted marching towards him, staying on the landing of the temple.

'was a girl worried about a man?'

'yes.' Sera agreed. 'you went under. What are you a mermaid?' she countered.

'a girl reads of mythical beings but not the free citites?'

'a woman did a lot of reading.' Sera confirmed.

'come in.' he told her she looked down at him skeptically. 'if a man wanted to kill you, you would be dead. A man is not going to drown a girl, a man assures you.' Sera slipped out of her dress quickly slipping in the waters. 'a man cannot guarantee that the mermaids and kraken wont tear a girl apart though.' Jaqen teased.

'you joke now? that's new.' Sera noted floating back in the water. He watched the curve of her breast and thighs as she floated in the moonlight. Sera felt scandalous. Bathing or swimming naked. That was not something a highborn should do, but she wasn't a highborn anymore. As Jaqen was trying to persuade her, she was to be no one. But she still felt like herself. A little less broken but still Seraphina Lannister. He dove under her grabbing at her leg, she shrieked before Jaqen appeared in front of her.

'don't do that!' she exclaimed laughing. 'I thought you were over there!'

'a mermaid coming to get a girl?' Jaqen teased.

'crazier things have happened.' Sera informed him. They treaded water, their knees brushing against each other as jaqens hands moved to her waist.

'a man will protect a woman, until she can protect herself... and maybe after that.' Jaqen told her, a smile pulled at her lips as his hands started to move but the slam of the temple door pulled their attention away from each other.

A woman stood at the door, no words left her mouth but Jaqen nodded understanding, he pulled away from Sera pulling himself up out of the water, he offered her a hand but she declined, she wasn't going to get any sleep anyways she lay back in the water, soaking in the cool waves splashing against her, Jaqen watched her as he redressed before heading inside, begrudgingly.
