Chapter Twenty One

Nancy informed us that at the place where Fred died there was gate. Meaning wherever Vecna killed there should be a gate to the upside down. Sadly for us the only other place Vecna killed was underwater.

A few days ago a player on our Hawkins high basketball team died from Vecnas curse. We don't know why but he was swimming out in the lake when Jason, the team captain and who he was with at the time, said he saw his teammate fly in the air and a bunch of other details too but I don't want to explain cause they gross me out. We found this out in a quick google search in the trailer after a creepy walk in the house.

"Okay so basically we need to find this gate and then we're all good to go." Nancy says "exactly" Steve replies.

"Guys are you sure this is a good idea?" Robin asks everyone as she stands by the front seats, furthest away from everybody. We all look to her "I know we want to do the whole save the world thing" She uses finger quotes on save the world "and I'm not saying we shouldn't do this, but I've got a tiny feeling it may not work out for us this time."

We all look at her but Steve says "don't say that Robin" he walks closer to her "we definitely got this okay?" I know he's just saying that to calm her nerves but it does nothing for mine, Robin clearly thinks we won't beat Vecnas plan for end of the world, even worse she thinks we won't make it out alive. Robin is one of the people here I trust the most even though we don't really speak to each other, she's just got this vide that I can feel safe around but now she's saying she don't trust this... and that makes me really scared.

I think it got to the others too I can see a change in their faces, especially Dustin. He's usually the most smiley, most cheerful little guy but right now he looks really worried.

Nancy and Steve get to their usual places in the front seats and Steve starts the engine, we input the lake we're assuming the gate is at into the gps and Steve starts driving. No warning about it.

Everyone in the back is just sitting on the floor so when we start moving we all fall back a little. I being in the front of them all, fall back the furthest, actually sliding into Eddies legs and I stop. His back is against the wall so he didn't move at all. I look up at him after I regain my balance and he just smiles at me "sorry" I say to him

"Nothing to be sorry about" He replies with a smile.

I stand up and slide/ crawl over to Dustin who's on the opposite wall still looking a little scared. I sit in front him criss crossing my legs, when he notices me he looks up and I say "there's nothing to worry about Dustin I'm sure we'll be okay" I try to be sincere, I know Dustin is very young and this kind of thing can be especially terrifying to someone his age, so I'm trying to relax him even though I'm terrified. And also I didn't really get to talk to him much so I'm hoping this will let us get to know each other better.

"Its not that" he says back " I know we'll be okay we have to be, it's just that there is a possibility that our plan to defeat his plan won't work. If he wins this our whole world as we know it could be gone." I didn't even think of that "it didn't scare me till now."

I scoot myself over to the wall he's leaning against so I'm next to him "I'm not gonna lie and say we'll win but hey" I look around which makes him do the same "we got a pretty good team" he says "yea"

I pat him on the knee, I'm not good at comforting people "hey you've done this before! Of all people I should be the scared one" he laughs "you are the scared one" he accuses and I laugh at him "but I try not to be"

"Be brave Henderson" Eddie interrupted us from his usual seat at the table, we're sat right beside my seat so he can hear us quite well. Apparently while the rest of the group makes small conversation with each other Eddie decides to listen in on my conversation.
