Disclamer: I don't own any character or arc story, other than the character Melanie and her parents and all her involvement in the various scenes that took place in the Teen Wolf series.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Melanie Rogers and Isaac Lahey met when they were just three years old, on the first day of nursery. Their friendship started with sharing a stuffed toy dog... A slightly bizarre way to start a friendship, but it's the purest of truths. As they grew older, their friendship also grew stronger and the truth is that neither of them could live without each other, so they spent most of their time in each other's company.
One aspect that helped this great friendship was the fact that her parents were friends, as Melanie's mother and Isaac's mother were great college friends. Every Sunday, the two families would gather at each other's houses and spend the day together. However, two major fatalities changed the life of one of the teenagers. After the death of Isaac's mother and older brother Camden who was killed in combat in Afghanistan, Isaac's father went from being a loving father to being an incredibly aggressive father who put immense pressure on Isaac to have success in life.
Whenever Isaac disobeyed him or got bad grades at school, his father would often beat him and over time he began to practice a harsher punishment, which was to lock him in a freezer for long periods of time and as a consequence of this horrendous punishment, Isaac started having panic attacks whenever he approached small spaces. However, as much as his home life was a complete hell, there was always one person who was there to cheer him up and support him in everything, which was his best friend Melanie Rogers.
Because he lost the people who were most important to him, that is, his mother, his brother and in a way his father, he swore to himself to always protect his best friend. Melanie still remembers the first time Isaac's father tried to beat her, after she tried to protect his best friend. That afternoon they had received a test grade and Isaac's grade hadn't been very good, it wasn't negative, but it had fallen short of Isaac's father's expectations. Usually when Melanie came to the Lahey's house, Isaac's father tried to remain civil, not least because he remembered how the two families adored each other. But that night, things were very different...
- A C+? - Coach Lahey asked, after placing the test on the table. - Did you study, as I asked you to do?
- Yeah.
- Are you lying to me? You know I hate it when you lie to me, don't you?- Asked Coach Lahey, raising his voice.
- I promise that next time the grade will be better.- Isaac said.
However, the conversation quickly escalated and Isaac's father became nervous and threw a glass in Isaac's direction, who just had time to dodge and the glass ended up hitting the wall of the room. However, this only further unnerved Coach Lahey, who got up and walked over to his son and slapped him. Of course, Melanie wasn't going to let him keep hitting her bestfriend, so she got up and put herself between Isaac and the coach.
- But are you silly? It was just a bad grade... Not the end of the world.
- Shut up! But I've figured it all out... Isaac's falling grades... His bad behavior... It's all because of you, isn't it? You're influencing my son...- said Coach Lahey turning to Melanie, but what scared the most was his look of pure anger.
- What? No, It's all your fault! You're the one who turned into a bad father... or rather a bad person. Ever since your wife and Camden died, you've made your son's life a living hell.
"Mel, calm down." Isaac whispered.
- Take back what you said. - Coach Lahey said, in a menacing tone. - I swore I would never hit a girl, but you are testing my patience.
