Chapter 28: The Girl

It was a perfectly normal day at Hope's Peak Academy. Students are roaming around the halls, talking to each other, joking around, or just walking through the hallways like normal.

However, a different atmosphere surrounds them.

Ever since the incident involving Airi Suzumiya and Miyuki Watanabe happened, the news quickly spread throughout the school, and eventually, it affected the atmosphere of the school a lot.

The students were very much worried about Airi and Miyuki's conditions, but thankfully enough Miyuki seems to be getting better.

A sigh can be heard coming from Tsurugi Kinjo, as he walked down the hallways with Yamato Kisaragi and Mikako Kurokawa. "Things are a little different now, huh?" The police officer asked, sounding like he's not in a great mood.

"Well, uh, yeah, I guess." Yamato answered, not sounding like his usual self. Mikako only responded to Tsurugi with a simple nod. "I'm wondering if Miyuki and Airi's okay..." Yamato muttered, glancing towards elsewhere.

...

Until he noticed something.

Or someone.

"Huh?" He muttered again in curiosity. "Hm? What's wrong, Yamato-ni?" Mikako asked, snapping Yamato out of his gaze towards that someone.

"O-oh! Well there's that girl over there." He answered pointing towards that someone.

It was a girl, with long wavy pink hair, light purple eyes, and she seems to be wearing the reserve course uniform, just with a sweater vest and jacket over it. She seemed to have just arrived into the building. "Huh? Who's that?" Tsurugi asked. Yamato only shrugged. "Don't know."

Yamato could only walk away, leaving Tsurugi and Mikako behind. "Ah-! Yamato-ni-!" Mikako called, chasing after her brother. Tsurugi sighed again.

He was just about to walk after them before he felt a light tap on his shoulder. He turned around, to see that same girl Yamato saw earlier, looking at him with a serious look on her face.

"Oh, how may I help you?" Tsurugi asked. "Do you know anyone with the title 'Ultimate Novelist'?" The girl asked, still looking as serious as ever. "Oh, well yes, he's a student in class 78 C. Why ask?" The police officer answered.

"I somehow knew him before. Either way, thank you." The girl said, bowing to the police officer. This girl is polite, huh?

"Ah, you don't need to bow." He said. "Mhm. I see. Anyways, you're Tsurugi Kinjo, right?" The girl responded, getting back to a normal standing position and tilted her head.

"Yes, how do you know?" Tsurugi asked, however he already knew the answer to that. The girl twirled a strand of her hair with her finger as she answered, "....Anyone might know everyone in the main course at this point, including me."

Tsurugi only nodded. "Well then, I'll be going now. I gotta find that little idi--I mean, Matsuzaki. Thank you once again." The girl spoke up, and then she walked away. Tsurugi only watched as she disappeared into the crowd of students.

He stayed silent for a moment, until he hears someone calling his name. He turned around to see Yamato waving at him from a far. How can he still be able to see him when he's so far away?

"Ah, right." He muttered, before walking towards the inventor and his sister.

"Haha! And then I said, 'Fucking idiot! You can't just diss my O.T.P. like that!'" Aiko exclaimed, laughing again afterwards. Yamada was laughing along with her, while Kazuo only nervously chuckled.

It's lunchtime right now, so they decided to chill at the rooftop and eat their lunch. They're done with their lunch though, but they decided to stay a little longer to talk more.

"Hahaha!!! That- *Wheeze* That was so- ahaha!" Yamada laughed. "Haha....y-yeah..." Kazuo said nervously. "They should NOT insult me for what I ship ever again! Hmph!" Aiko said, crossing her arms and looking away.

However, she looked away towards the entrance of the rooftop, where she saw a girl in a reserve course uniform walking out of the entrance. She only looked around before seemingly spotting something and walking towards it.

What's odd to Aiko is that she's walking towards where she, Yamada, and Kazuo are right now. "Huh?" She thought in absolute confusion.

"Matsuzaki." The girl called, grabbing Yamada's attention almost immediately. He didn't realized it was a reserve course student however, since his response was, "Ugh, what is it now, Mitsuko? I'm--Huh?"

He looked up to the girl, and then his eyes widen. "Oh. My. God!!! ANJU-CHAN!!!!" Yamada screamed, getting up from his seat and proceeds to give 'Anju' a possibly body crushing hug. "Ack-!" She yelped, before relaxing in Yamada's embrace.

After awhile, he released the hug, making 'Anju' be able to breath again. She sighed, looking back at the novelist who only grinned happily. "Uh....Yamada? Who's that?" Kazuo asked in confusion.

"Oh! This is Anju Kamei! She's a classmate of mine from middle school! And also a rival of mine." Yamada answered happily, mentioning the rival part as if he doesn't actually have any beef with this girl.

"Ah, yes. That's true." Anju said, crossing her arms. "Cool! The name's Aiko Naomi! The Ultimate Shipper! I'm not a child, nor am I THAT short." Aiko spoke up. "I'm Kazuo Nakashima. Ultimate Photographer. Pleasure to meet you, Kamei-san." Kazuo said.

"It's nice to meet you both too, and it's 'nice' to see you again, Matsuzaki." Anju said in a calm tone. "Awe, why did you said 'nice' like that...?" Yamada asked.

"*Sigh* Because we're rivals." Anju simply answered, making Yamada pout. Seeing the novelist look annoyed like that only made Kazuo smile. "But rivals can be nice to each other too, Anju-chan!!!" Yamada shouted at the reserve course student in annoyance.

"Well whatever. Anyways, Anju is your rival in what, Yamada?" Aiko asked, turning over to the novelist who turned his head to her. "Oh, in the world of writing novels, of course! I guess I'm just the more popular one, so that's why Anju-chan isn't apart of class 79~" Yamada teased.

"Wha- H-hey...!" Anju shouted, pretty much annoyed of Yamada's presence already. Yamada laughed it off, apologizing to her, Aiko only tried holding her laugh, and Kazuo only watched the scene unfold in silence.

"Ahaha...Anyways, why are you here? What made you enroll to Hope's Peak?" Yamada asked. "Well..." Anju started. "Because we weren't done with our rivalry yet." She said. But then...

"And to know what people with actual talent are like here."
