CHAEYOUNG'S (CUBY) POV
The meeting had gone smoothly, no unnecessary delays, no foolish questions, and no wasted time. Ms. P remained impassive throughout, her expression unreadable as she gave slight nods whenever she approved of something. That was how she operated.
A nod meant continue.
A smile meant DISMISS.
One hour later, we were shaking hands with the new LM PRAN Company partner. Everything had gone according to plan-until a sudden gasp broke the silence.
I turned just in time to see the waiter, a young woman in her early twenties, her face frozen in horror as a tray slipped from her hands.
The next second, disaster struck.
A full plate of saucy food crashed onto Ms. P's pristine white turtleneck dress. The air went still.
The waiter's breath hitched. Her hands trembled as she stepped back, eyes filling with tears. "I-I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to..." Her voice quivered with fear.
I barely had time to react before I caught it, just for a fraction of a second, Priya's icy gaze softened.
Lisa.
For a brief moment, Lisa had surfaced. And I knew exactly why. My best friend never liked seeing people afraid of her. But in this world, fear was power, and she had been trained to wield it like a blade.
Her eyes turned cold again in an instant.
"Stand up. Get her out of here," she ordered blankly.
The guards stepped in, gently leading the terrified girl away. She wouldn't be punished, just reassured that she wouldn't lose her job. That was how we handled mistakes like this. Still, Ms. P couldn't show kindness. Not openly.
The investor was dismissed soon after, and once we were alone in the VVIP room, she turned to me, her sharp facade crumbling.
"Cuby..." she whined, her voice losing all of Ms. P's usual authority. "I need to change my clothes. You know I'm allergic to this kind of sauce." Her eyes pleaded with me like a child asking for candy. And just like that, Lalisa was back.
I sighed, already wiping the stain. "I know, Monkey. Hold still."
At that moment, the restaurant manager entered with five of his staff, all of them bowing deeply, their heads practically touching the floor. They knew how serious the situation had been.
"Do you have a spare suit for Ms. P? She needs to change immediately," I asked, my tone strict as I maintained my role as Priya's secretary.
The manager gulped before stammering, "I-I'm very sorry, Miss Son, but we don't have any suits available for Ms. P at the moment."
Damn it. We didn't have time to get a new outfit from outside, and Lisa's allergies could act up any second.
A nervous hand shot up from one of the staff members. "W-We have brand new waiter uniforms, freshly pressed by the staff. Ms. P could use one temporarily," the worker suggested cautiously.
I turned to Priya, and she gave me the smallest nod.
"Fine. Bring it now."
Minutes later, the uniform arrived. I dismissed the staff and turned back to Lisa.
"I'll be back, Chaeyoung," she muttered, grabbing the uniform and heading toward the restroom.
LISA'S POV
The moment I put on the waiter's uniform, an idea popped into my head.
What if I snuck out?
No one would recognize me in this outfit. It wasn't every day that Pranpriya Brüschweiler walked around disguised as a restaurant staff member.
Grinning to myself, I stepped out of the VVIP room, feeling oddly satisfied. The uniform fit well, clean, pressed, and comfortable. I adjusted the collar, admiring the neat craftsmanship. The staff here did a great job maintaining their uniforms.
As I inspected it further, I felt a presence approaching.
And then...
Wow.
A stunning woman stood before me.
Sharp eyes, full lips, and an aura that screamed elegance and authority. She looked at me like she had already decided something, and whatever it was, I had a feeling I wouldn't like it.
Without warning, she grabbed my wrist.
Confused, I tilted my head. "Huh?"
"I need your help," she said, her tone dead serious.
Wait... what?
Before I could process her words, she hit me with the next bombshell.
"Be my girlfriend."
I blinked.
WHAT?!
I barely had a second to react before she started dragging me across the restaurant.
"Wait-what the f-"
"No time for questions," she cut me off smoothly, pulling me along with a firm grip.
I stumbled slightly, still processing the insanity of the situation.
We arrived at a massive door, the entrance to another VVIP room. She finally stopped, turning to face me with a look of pure determination.
"I want you to act like we know each other and love each other in front of the people inside," she commanded. "I'll pay you a lot if you do this job properly."
PAY ME?
What the hell had I just gotten myself into?!
Her eyes locked onto mine, unwavering. "I'll let you do things couples do, but don't step out of line. Do you hear me?"
I nodded automatically, still too stunned to argue.
She... smiled. And patted my head.
What the hell?
One second she was terrifying, the next she was acting like a playful cat. Who is this girl?!
"Good." She linked her arm with mine, her grip firm. Then, with a confident smirk, she winked at me.
"Let's go. Time to meet my family and introduce them to my girlfriend."
And just like that, she pushed open the door.
Oh my god. What the hell is happening?!
Why didn't I stop her?! Why didn't I complain?!
Aiisshh!
