LISA'S POV
I stepped out of Jennie’s office with a wide grin, barely able to contain the excitement bubbling inside me. My heart was still racing from what had just happened.
With a quick glance around to make sure no one was watching, I threw a celebratory punch into the air. Yes!
I got the date.
Still grinning, I made my way to Jennie’s secretary, Mina, to retrieve Cubby. Usually, Cubby and I went together to meet Jennie, but this time, she had insisted I go alone. I had almost protested, but one sharp look from her shut me up. That girl can be so confusing sometimes.
I knocked on the office door, and as soon as Mina shouted her permission, I stepped inside.
Cubby was already standing, arms crossed.
"You’re here. Let’s go," she said, her tone neutral.
I bid farewell to Mina with a quick thanks before we headed toward the elevator.
The moment the doors closed, Cubby’s neutral expression shattered.
"So... how was it?!" she practically bounced in excitement.
I blinked at her, amused. "Weren’t you acting all grumpy before I went in?"
"That’s not important!" she waved me off impatiently. "Tell me!"
I smirked, drawing out the suspense before finally letting it out—
"I GOT THE DATE!" I cheered, practically vibrating with happiness. "She agreed, and I’ll be picking her up at six!"
Without thinking, I punched Cubby’s arm in excitement.
"YAH! Stop it, Monkey! You’re hurting my arm!" she complained, dodging my next hit.
"Haha, sorry, Cubby! I’m just so excited!"
She rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the small smile forming on her lips.
I drove her to the LM PRAN Company, where she had to check some documents. Before she got out of the car, she turned to me with a knowing smirk.
"Good luck on your date, Manoban," she teased.
I chuckled. "Thanks, Cub. I’ll need it."
The rest of my morning was spent at L Studio, shooting scheduled artists. But by the afternoon, all my focus was on preparing for the big night.
By 6 PM, I was already outside Jennie’s office, leaning casually against the car.
I checked my watch. Five minutes had passed.
Just as I glanced up, my breath hitched.
Jennie stepped out through the glass doors of the company, her presence commanding attention as people respectfully bowed in greeting. The security guard opened the door for her, and I raised my hand in a small wave.
She turned toward me, her eyes lighting up as she approached.
Damn.
Even in casual clothes, she was breathtaking.
"Hi, did you wait too long?" she asked, her voice soft with concern.
I shook my head. "Nope, you’re right on time."
Smiling, I opened the car door for her.
"Shall we?"
"We shall," she replied with a teasing grin before sliding into the passenger seat.
