THIRD PERSON POV
Jennie stood frozen in place, her feline eyes widening in disbelief. Lisa, the very person she had been frantically searching for, stood before her-completely unharmed. No sign of injury, no pain, just a mischievous glint in her eyes.
It was all a setup.
Lisa cleared her throat, her fingers gripping the microphone tightly. She could sense Jennie's confusion, and if she was being honest, she was starting to feel nervous.
"Hi, Nini," Lisa started softly, her voice almost hesitant. "First of all, I'm sorry for lying about being injured. I know it was a bad joke, but I hope you can forgive me for that," she said, mustering her most innocent smile.
Jennie raised an eyebrow, pretending to be annoyed, but the gentle smile tugging at her lips betrayed her. She shook her head lightly before nodding in understanding.
Lisa sighed in relief. "Please have a seat, Nini. What I'm about to do will take some time," she said playfully, winking at her.
Jennie chuckled and walked toward the chair that had been placed just for her. As soon as she sat down, the sound of guitars filled the air. The soft strumming mixed with the cool night breeze, weaving a melody that made the world feel as if it had paused just for them.
Lisa took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment before gripping the microphone and letting her voice fill the space between them.
Wise men say, only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you...
The first note was enough to make Jennie's heart stop.
Lisa's voice carried through the night, rich and full of emotion. Her eyes fluttered open, locking onto Jennie's, and the rest of the world ceased to exist.
With every word, Lisa poured out her feelings, her voice both strong and vulnerable. She wasn't just singing a song-she was baring her soul.
Like a river flows, surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes, some things are meant to be...
Jennie felt her throat tighten. Every lyric, every note, held an unspoken confession. It wasn't just a performance-it was a declaration.
Lisa continued, her voice never wavering, carrying all the words she had yet to say, all the emotions she had struggled to express.
By the time she sang the final words, "For I can't help falling in love with you," Jennie's vision blurred with tears. She wasn't just listening to a song. She was listening to Lisa telling her exactly how she felt.
Lisa placed the microphone down and took a step toward Jennie. And before she could say a word, Jennie was already on her feet, rushing into Lisa's arms.
Lisa barely had time to react before she felt Jennie's warmth envelop her, arms tightening around her neck as if letting go wasn't an option. Lisa wrapped her own arms around Jennie's waist, holding her just as tightly.
For a moment, there were no words-only the sound of their breaths and the quiet beating of their hearts against each other.
Finally, Lisa pulled away just enough to cup Jennie's tear-streaked face. She gently wiped away the wetness with her thumb, her gaze never leaving Jennie's.
"Nini," Lisa murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "I know it's only been a few weeks since we met, and it may not seem like a long time, but with you, Nini, it feels like we've already shared a lifetime together." She inhaled deeply, steadying her racing heart. "I love you, Jennie Ruby Jane Kim."
