THIRD PERSON POV

It’s been almost three days since JRJK Corp. started losing its investors. Even its shareholders were trying to withdraw their shares. Another branch of the company was also facing problems, making it even harder for Jennie to manage everything. 

That day, Jennie woke up cuddling with her girlfriend. Lisa was sleeping soundly beside her, making Jennie smile at the sight. After pecking a kiss on her lover's cheek, she received a call from Mina about another emergency at her company. She slid out of bed and prepared to leave. Before heading out, she gave Lisa one last peck. 

That morning, Lisa woke up alone. Jennie had left early for JRJK Corp. due to yet another urgent matter. After taking a shower, Lisa went downstairs, where Jennie’s parents invited her to join them for breakfast. She gratefully accepted, thanking the couple before heading out in her car. 

At the JRJKC building, Jennie was already fuming the moment she stepped into her office. Investors were arriving one after another, demanding to withdraw their investments. News had also spread that several company branches were still facing the same issues from the past few days, only worsening. 

Jennie spent almost the entire day in meetings with the finance department, trying to pinpoint the issues plaguing the other branches. 

When she finally returned to her office, exhaustion hit her like a wave. She slumped onto the couch, resting her head on the backrest and closing her eyes. Just as she was about to drift off, a sudden knock on the door interrupted her. 

"Come in," Jennie called out. 

"Ms. Kim, take some lunch. I brought food," Mina said as she entered. Jennie, eyes still closed, simply waved a hand, signaling Mina to place the food on the table. 

"The food I brought is actually from Ms. Lisa." 

Jennie’s eyes shot open. She immediately sat up and looked at Mina upon hearing her lover’s name. 

"She came here?" Jennie asked, looking around her office. 

Mina shook her head, amusement flickering in her eyes. "She came earlier, but you weren’t here. Krystal told me she waited for hours, but she got a call from Boo- I mean, Chaeyoung-so she couldn’t wait for you any longer. She called me instead to make sure you wouldn’t skip a meal." 

Jennie’s heart warmed at the thought. She turned her gaze toward the food in front of her, various dishes, all of them delicious-looking. 

She reached for her phone, about to call Lisa, when a text message appeared on her screen. 

"Hi, Nini. Take your lunch, okay? I made sure to include your favorite food and dessert. I'm sorry I couldn’t wait until you came back. A client made an urgent request, and I had to leave. If you're reading this, I’m probably on my flight to Japan. I’ll only be gone for a day. I’m sorry again for not telling you ahead of time. Take care, Nini. I love you."

Jennie tried calling Lisa, but the line was busy. She sighed, feeling a wave of sadness wash over her. It had already been three days since she last spent time with Lisa. Still, Lisa never failed to remind her to eat, always making sure food was sent to her. 

"You okay, Ms. Kim?" Mina asked, concerned as she watched her boss staring at the food with teary eyes. 

Jennie looked up, meeting Mina’s gaze. "I miss my Lili, Mina," she said pitifully. 

Mina couldn't help but find the sight amusing. Jennie had been cold and strict with everyone all morning, scolding every department. But now, she was soft and vulnerable, missing the love of her life.
